Firsty, Hi all; Jak from Hertfordshire, UK - currently on L-plates, hopefully tearing 'em up in May. Now, a few questions pertaining to minor modifications to my 2009 YBR 125. I've put Metzeler tyres on it, but I need to up the power of the dipped beam headlight bulb to something that actually lets me see further than 3 feet on unlit country roads. Anyone recommend any good bulbs/good wattages to look out for? thirdly, I want to change out the handgrips and put on Bar-ends, but I've no idea what size grip or what kind of Bar-end will fit, everywhere I look has different information; and I can't find it anywhere in the manual. Any suggestions on what to look out for …

Hi, I have a '99 Yam XJ600N twin disc model. Having a rattle which sounded like a loose brake pad coming from the front caliper i took it off to find that an anti-rattle shim is missing. Brakes still function fine but it needs sorting out. Having looked round the web i can't find anyone selling them. Is it worth contacting a dealer? (dont want to pay through the nose though). Help please. Matt

Hi Everyone, I'm new here and really writing on behalf of my Dad. My Dad has a pretty mint 1980 250 XT. It runs like a dream and I have ridden it for years myself and my Dad has had it from new apart from when his mate had it for a few years and it came back to him. The only non-original part is the Micron Exhaust he has on it......original gold rims... The works.... It has lived its whole life being kept in the garage so never stored outside. Now my question is to what we do with it. I think my dad has had enough of it and it's time to move on but what is the best place for it to go? What's it worth and is it worth of some showroom or collectors place? …

  8. I'm disappointed you haven't wished me a happy birthday. I've had a fantastic day out, my lad took me to Fulham to see them beat Wigan. Called in to weatherspoons in Baker Street for a drink and meal. Got train home and here I am having a winge because nobody loves me. (even when I was at school my mum used to wrap my sandwiches up in a road map) Not bad for my age though, still making love at 63, My wife's not to happy because we live at No. 25.

Ok so I admit it I am an old fart who when he wants to make a call used to look for a red phone box on the side of the road. Now apparently you can use one if these magical mobile jobbies that also wipes your arse and makes the tea (not in that order I hope) anyway got a new(ish) phone and it has this bluetooth thing and I was wondering if anybody on here might have some (clean) suggestions as to which B/tooth headset might be best to use on an OLD XJ 750 that makes more noise than a tractor at about 60MPH, my lid is ok and quite sound proof apart from the odd whistle from the wind now and then, it is a tight fit (no good slopping about is it) so I imagine that the head s…

Hi out there, I'm looking for a speedo sensor for my fzs 600 and there are none on eBay. Fowlers are looking for £120 for a new one but that goes against the grain. Does anyone know whether I can use a similar item from another Yamaha model as there are a few on eBay which look like they could fit although in some cases the wiring looks rather short? Many thanks.

  16. Hello folks. My new Yamaha turns up in a week or two so I need to turn my eye to securing it. I live in a rented house, and don't have access to a garage, so the 'easy' option is out of the running. I do have a parking bay with space for my bike, but can't really dig a hole in it for a concreted in anchor, unless I try and get away with one of those u-shaped ones that's flush to the surface - not sure the council would approve of me digging up the King's Highway though The bay is adjacent to a wooded area though, so as far as I can see I have a couple of options: I can use a chain around the nearest tree (that would be a 4m chain, to get there and back), p…

  17. Hi I have a virago 125cc and a few years back it started to refuse to start with the starter, I could still do a "running start"(dont know how you say this in english). It seems like it almost want to start, but not quite there, it will on the other hand start nicely on the starter when the engine is hot. I have changed the started, and done a few other jobs, but its been a while now, I have kinda given up on it, but here the other day I though, lets give it one more try:D When I think back, I think I might have pressed the starter while it was allready on, this might help to tell you whats wrong, because neither I nor the mechanics I have talked to have any clue. …

  18. I did a search through the forum, nobody seems to have asked this question before, or if they did, they put it in title with a cryptic heading like "help" or "question" or "need help" that sort of thing, I must confess these simple titles get my goat up!!! why can't they be more concise? Anyway back to the question in hand......... I'm just in the process of doing an engine rebulid on my Honda CB400/4 , I did the DTMX 175 last year!! The base gasket has leaked oil for some years, in fact shortly after i rebuilt the engine a few years ago it started...but recently its got worse and enoughs enough! i decided its time to fix it, so engine out and replace the seals and…
