what are the part numbers Steve?
-
might be a fuelling problem? Check fuel flowrate to carb, how does pulling the choke on affect it?

On the left side of the engine there is a rotor with strong magnets attached. Behind this there is a base plate with source coils and pulse coils attached, as the magnets pass the coils...voltages are induced and these voltages go to charge up the capacitor in the cdi and also to trigger the cdi to discharge its capacitor (cdi = capacitor discharge ignition) to the ignition coil under the fuel tank. This system does not require any battery power at all, it will run without the battery but I'm not suggesting you do that because the battery is needed for many other things
-
your bike has got magneto / cdi ignition fella, I sent you a PM of a parts list for this bike. Really there isnt any difference between yours and mine, as I know of.
-
Just get a new battery and a charger Andrew, can you borrow a charger to get you to payday?
-
Girls are you groggy in the morning? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BMUC4Yb4z4

-
but how would you know this if the numbers matched?
-
I've got http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Accumate-Optimate-6v-12v-Battery-charger-NEW-/251141631029?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a79352c35#ht_2381wt_721 Great charger it is too, does 6v and 12v
-
Get a bloody bike charger bought! no idling aint gonna charge a battery well lol
-
For posting photos you'll have to open a photobucket account upload your photos there then copy and paste the IMG tag to your posts here. Your bike is a DT175F 1979, they are the same as DT175MX but the MX wasnt id used in every country, for example USA had 175E, F, G and so on, must be the same for Greece

Hello fellow Yamaha riders! I'm new here.
Airhead replied to fawzi963's topic in New Members Welcome Area
Greetings fawzi, hey thats a good one - look after her -
sometimes the pilot screw adjust fuel not air and the result is they work opposite ie...air screw clockwise to richen Fuel screw anti clockwise to richen air mixture scews are often found on the airbox side of the throttle slide and vice versa for fuel mixture screws
-
study your manual, look for the specs and be clear how you're going to take measurements I'd get the battery charged up too and if it's not in good nick that may or may not make a difference...It doesnt on my DT, that will run without a battery fitted because it's a magneto ignition
-
No you cannot check the cdi without specialist equipment, for the home mechanic yamaha suggest you check everything else first. They give a list of specifications for the resistance values of the magneto and HT coils and youre supposed to check these are within spec before laying out £££'s on cdi's
-
whats the part number?
-
Ha you're such an amateur Andrew, are you to be know as 'Bobbit' from now on?
-
yeah it's because the pv is pinned wide open, try coming up with a method of locking it a little less open for better low speed performance, thats about all you can do with it
-
Haha thats fantastic
-
we've seen this before, in the end the chap had to buy new original type ball bearings!
