  1. Have you tried Granby or Fowlers?
  2. Are you sure you did the kicker conversion correctly? It sounds like your kicker is not turing the crank to me. BTW running with the bike and popping the clutch is a long way of writing 'bump starting'
  3. POT KETTLE BLACK
  4. me too http://www.wheelsofitaly.com/wiki/index.php/Gilera http://www.wheelsofitaly.com/wiki/index.php/File:Gilera_3_001.jpg I can see it's not a 'Touring moped' so it looks to be a 'Touring RS' The seat looks short though? it does have pillion pegs.
  5. No idea what theses screws are or why youre trying to drain oil from them Steve Isnt there a drain plug under the engine somewhere?
  6. I like it Drewpy but you know me and my love of mopeds. It's a Gilera touring I think, as opposed to the trail version with cross braced bar, high front guard and upswept exhaust or the Enduro with its number plates and even higher upswept pipe.

Welcome Sye, good bunch on here ,,,Paul
  8. our suspicions were correct
  9. Thats right, no o ring, the gasket does the job of sealing. Besides an o ring would normally have a machined out seat...not be squashed between two flat surfaces.

Ohh when you talked about seepage assumed it was now not a long time ago. i was worried we would never hear from you again. And some fell on stony ground then
  11. For posting pictures see FAQ's Here is a picture of a 175MX carb, its an early one so is marked 2H500, a later one would be marked 3U500 (uk bikes)
  12. someones change the carb Aaron at a guess. Welcome to the forum

Are you leaving the tank in the garage when you go for a ride? is this safe?
  14. Check your oil level Steve, go for a ride, Ohh around 5 miles, then ten then 20, keep checking...dont just do 130 miles first ride
  15. Its a bit premature to worry about the oil/water emulsion, what with all the little pottering abouts you have done and starting it up and dreaming and starting it again and dreaming again and again and again.. You never got it hot and you caused a lot of condensation, so get it ridded properly, check your oil and water before and after when its cool ...ohh and cross your fingers
  16. 1/2 or 1 1/2 Webi?
  17. Try sunrise graphics.
  18. I got it from here Part number 4TP-12237-00 Any Yamaha dealer should be able to get it though, Granby and Fowlers are always a favourite recommend
  19. Does the smoke clear after a good run, is it blue smoke ie 2T oil smoke. Are you saying bit wont idle? Turn the throttle stop screw in a bit at a time until it does, set the mixture screw about 1 1/2 turns out (a guess)
  20. Have you got a photo of the 125 engine, how complete is it, clutch cover and oil pump cover dont really look like the mx version. Also on an MX the generator cover and oil pup cover are plastic moulded. Did you post the engine number of the MX engine? Clearly it is an MX frame etc so I take back about the import and would go more with the idea that it has had some remarkably good number changing Frame number is always on the head stock DT125E would be the first of the MX types over the pond, although people call older ones DT125E simply because they were badged 'Enduro' You may find the 'Parts manuals for yamaha bikes' useful in the workshop forum, have a look at the DT's there and dowload anything you find useful for free.
  21. Great thread, now enjoy and hope to see you back sometime
  22. You mentioned the ride height in the photos, like cynic said the blue one has a jack up kit, the front can be balanced up a bit because the stancheons go through the top yoke by 20mm or so, they even made extensions to screw into the top of the fork tube (aftermarket) Also like cynic said the blue bike has an after market exhaust on it but the yellow bike is stock like yours The side panels are correct for a 78 bike, I think you have most of a us import 78 DT125E, with an older DT front end on it
