  1. yeah if youre not that bothered and lack the time / skill why not 'improvise' JB weld is quite good and stands a bit of heat
  2. davie what exactly are we looking at here, is it a snapped off m8 stud still in the cyl head?
  3. Nice work mate Oohh that old seal does look a bit fubared and the new one...well thats just minty innit The vid doesnt work for me ...damn! DT back in retirement TTR and Bandit both fixed
  4. see my pinned topic about my ventures into de-restricting (when I had one)
  5. if you can hear the cleaning cycle when you first turn on the key it isnt pinned, the restriction wasnt tied to revs I dont think, on some (not sure about yours) it was tied to speed by means of a reed switch in the speedo...something like around 55 mph iirc
  6. i'm thinking crank seal too, I could do a leak down test with the rig I made that'll find any leak
  7. I reckon mines goosed as well! It's 1: Down on power 2: Bucking and banging on the over run 3: Hanging before settling after high speed runs (motorway) Did you WD40 your inlet boot, I guess you did I'm going to start using a smear of blue hylomar at the inlet boot to reed valve connection on mine
  8. yeah the diode will only pass the positive half waves and the regulator will keep the peak voltages of these half waves pegged
  9. try connecting the yellow wire of the regulator to the left hand side of that symbol, and connect the metal body of the regulator to batt negative or a good chassis connection. you can test it's effectiveness by leaving the yellow unplugged and measuring the battery voltage with the motor running, and repeat after plugging it in.
  10. is there a symbol on the rectifier like this?
  11. yeah it's a 6v replacement for the DTMX type, it will be an ac regulator, the thing to consider is this... it needs to be connected to ac supply, ie, the ac connection to the rectifier, what kind of rectifier does it have, is it just a crude half wave one like the DT with only 2 connections ?
  12. +1 yeah that prove you coils are within spec (see your manual) If they are then try another cdi
  13. DTMX regulator is a 6v ac one, are you aware of that ?
  14. why did you fit a smaller jet, some of the later ones were fitted with a 240 and downsizing is always risky, the main jet is not the reason for your starting woes anyhow
  15. Great stuff Gordo...Oohh an RD400
  16. Nice day for tinkering mate but It's getting colder again so what have you done today. did you fit a new oil tank?
  17. keyster carb kits a great for the money IMO http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAWASAKI-GPZ750-KZ750-ZX750-A1-A3-CARB-KIT-1982-1985-/290858602737?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b88610f1 Thats a great bike you have there davie

At last eh john good to see you enjoying the fruits of your labours and finally some warm sunshine my DT will be pressed into service tomorrow for the commute to work, 2nd reserve as the other 2 are broke down! It's gonna be dry anyway
  20. I stand corrected, his issue was with a DT200WR, but he had the same difficulty because he's in Iran! I am surprised that you cannot get the part in Germany though...very surprised at that!
  21. there was a chap from Iran here recently who ordered parts for his, he got them from Canada if I remember right...I'll post a link to the thread when I find it
