Aahhh you're welcome nigel, It wasnt the easiest bike to remove thw wheel from so 2 people are better than just yourself with that one eh...good job you had a few gadgets to lift and steady the bike

Yes it would seem that way, a multimeter check would be a good thing but something tells me you havent got one, you should get one they are so cheap nowadays

blocked pilot jet in the carb, it's time to stip and clean it...get some carb cleaner aerosol

correct me if I'm wrong but how could it be associated with the gearbox output shaft, how could that work if you changed sprocket sizes at the gearbox or wheel?

10w 40 will do, make sure you buy motorcycle oil though because car oils have additives that may make your clutch slip! Hey Nigel, you'll need a means of propping the bike upright and stable...It only has a sidestand doesnt it? The info you are asking about may be in the owners manual...have a look
