  2. Very cool stuff - put's all those dickheads on BMWs, who think a 200mile blat is a tour, to shame.

Easier to change the chain and sprocket than ruin bearings or do some serious damage. Get it done or you could rue delaying it.

For connectors that need to be easy to disconnect (e.g. a headlamp connection) use AMP connectors. They are cheap and two-a-penny on ebay, with high ingress protection.
  5. You might want to introduce yourself in the new members area - we will help if we can, but's good manners. The general mood of the yzf125r owners is that the big bore kits are quite a bit of hassle for limited return. From memory, you'd need: athena barrel and piston. a bigger injector (or multihole) a fuelling mod. some of these guys have spent £hundreds for maybe 2bhp more. Spend the money on better gear, training or some long distance trips.

I live by Fowlers, if ever anyone wants me to go and order from the counter, let me know. They are 100% better than they were 15-20 years ago. A very slick set-up with dedicated, knowledgeable staff - very Bristolian in that sense.

Alex, got 35k AU$ going spare? http://www.trademotorcycles.com.au/detail/motorcycles/motorcycles/yamaha/rz500n/163928 I wish I had the money for that.
  8. Check the length of hoses and cables, is there enough slack for the new bars? - always seems to be a maker or breaker when fitting different bars on a bike.
  9. in 6th gear, with standard gearing: 1200rpm = 14mph 2400rpm = 29mph 3600rpm = 43mph 4800rpm = 58mph 6000rpm = 72mph 7200rpm = 86mph 8400rpm = 101mph 9600rpm = 115mph 10800rpm = 129mph

Probably the air injection system putting extra air into the exhausts. Find the pipe from the airbox that feeds it and block it off.
  11. Looks very sorted.

    Looks great.
  13. no reason why not - most top boxes come with fittings/plates to mate to most racks
  14. Years ago i had an RXS100 (infact i had 2), I put a universal rack on, just a bit of fiddling to get it to fit. Something like this should be doable: http://www.rawpowermotorcycles.co.uk/PBSCCatalog.asp?ActionID=67174912&PBCATID=1945390&PBCATName=Rack%20%28Universal%29

In general terms, when touring so-called 'visitor laws' apply, whereby if what you have is legal at home it will be legal where you are. What really applies is common-sense, if you went to Italy and were stopped, the Carabinieri would be more interested in lights that didn't work or loose luggage than no catalyser [they probably wouldn't notice, and if they did they wouldn't want the paperwork]. I've been through CH many times, which allegedly they have the most draconian road enforcement in the EEA, yet I only hear of them nicking people for speeding (it's cell time and whooping great fine).

I don't think you'll run into problems. On the first XJ6 I had I put R6 (5SL) headers on and a generic micron end can. Didn't turn the MIL on, even though I removed the lambda sensor. If it does you can always buy one of those £15 lambda emulators on ebay. You won't get any extra power, as the state of tune is dictated by the cam profiles, but you will lose quite a bit of weight.
  18. That looks sweet - enjoy.

It think that's more the bike than the camera; i was on my way back to the UK, the tyres were worn-out, the headrace bearings had gone sloppy and the camera was mounted out on the vibey mirror-stalk You pays your money I suppose - i'd rather have £220 quid in my pocket [more for continental trips] and a cheap cam, than be down £280 for go pro.

I've got the Vivitar camera - it's a great bit of kit for not much money.

It's not that i dislike dynojet kits in the truest sense, but (a) things get drilled, so once committed it can't be undone (b.) they are often fitted to fix something, but miss the point and add to the problems (c.) dynojet reel off all sorts of stuff about how they improve this, that and the other, but it always seems a bit snake-oily. Factory pro jet kits on the other hand... Best bit is it's had: A recent oil and filter. The chain on it is good, but the seller chucked in a new one still in the wrapper. new tyres Braided hoses front and rear An SP Engineering end-can fitted at the factory in Frome. Needs a sodding good clean, and the top fairing is broken, but other than that and the usual wear and tear. Too good to break.

Update: got it running this afternoon! yippee. Dropped the old gunk petrol out of the tank - stuck it in primera! pulled the float bowls and degunked. freed-up choke slide. jumped it off the car and after some coaxing started-up. The engine seems stronger than my other exup and revs cleanly and not too rich. warmed it up, doesn't overheat. All electrics work. Happy as fook. Happy Christmas YOCers.
