Love the scenery around Ladbower res. at Derwent And there's a place called the Devils Arse which I think is near Castleton and the Blue John mines Always fancied a ride up there myself so stick your cam on!

I have to agree with Barry - the minty ones are much nicer than the orange ones! The lady was wrong though - the blue badge must only be used by the registered holder, either as a driver or passenger.

Hi and welcome! Fellow 'L' plater here Only a couple of tips from me - assume everyone else on the road is stupid and lies, have fun and don't put your test off too long. Wish I'd done mine 20 years ago when I could afford it!

I kind of get the feeling that the outcome is the same anyway - would have been nice to have turned it down though? At least this way when the position comes up again there will be no negativity towards you for turning it down previously. Here's to another 10 years of chugging on the deep blue!

I wasn't going to share this but the other night in a packed Tesco car park, after loading half a weeks shopping into my box (much to the surprise of people who didn't believe I'd do it) I proudly started her up, backed out of the space, knocked her into gear and she stalled! Restarted 3 times and 3 times stalled when I put her in gear! That would be no 1 on the 3 magic rule / idiot list then

Well I've run a couple of tanks through and averaging out at about 77/78 mpg so just under 10% more costing about 3% more A little more money to scurry away towards my licence!!

Hi Claire. Welcome to YOC! Tbh I'm still learning myself - had a SR for just over a year and just about keeping up with day to day maintenance lol. If the rear wheel actually turns I'd be tempted to remove the chain, clean it and soak it in oil and use that to fire it up before spending money! I've found there isn't a lot to go wrong with the SR so new plug, clean carb, fresh petrol and see what happens! Oh and if you say hello in the newbie section I'm sure you'll be inundated with offers of help - just a little about yourself... any other bikes, why has it been sat for years, where are you sort of thing!
