I'm in Basiningstoke. I've been training since 1989 (Yes, I'm old) Don't stop at Purple, getting my 1st Dan was a big highlight for me.

Two tigers walking through the town centre, one turns to the other and says "Quiet here isn't it." The other one turns back and says "Bugger me, a talking tiger."

Having been an all weather rider since I started (the bike's my only transport), I'm used to the numb fingers damp clothes and visor so misty it's like riding in fog. Over the years I've discovered - Waterproof isn't waterproof after 100 miles at 60-80 mph in the p***ing rain - All weather gloves / heated grips don't stop the very tips of your fingers freezing till you can't feel them - Nobody has invented an anti-mist spray that lasts for more than one day riding in an English winter.
  11. This is 230 miles one way for me so I'll be giving it a miss I think. If you're planning something a little (lot) further south It would be great to meet you all.

Well done on the Grading. I'm 1st Dan in Wado Ryu Karate. The blister sounds painful but my Sensei always tells me it only hurts if you let it (he lies like a cheap Russian watch )

Spent bank holiday monday in London. Wish it had been that peaceful.
  15. We all have a bike that we'd get if money was no object. This is mine, what's yours? Indian Chief Dark Horse

You're only as old as the woman you feel
  17. Hi and welcome to the forum. Things you should know: Every car driver on the road is actively trying to kill you every time you go out on your bike.

Great to hear you've found the bike for you. I think choosing a bike is all about the grin factor. If you sit on it and imediately start smiling then you've found your bike.

That looked like a great Birthday treat. I have a thirteen year old daughter who is in love with One Direction too
  20. Brings back such happy memories
  21. You were right to dial up the suspension for the minor addition of a few kilos of wife (is that diplomatic enough?) although taking it all the way roud to seven might have been overkill. Never had a 'divvie' so couldn't say about the vibration. Countering a strong cross wind is something that you'll learn the more you ride but it's fair to say that a gust of wind across the road will always take you by surprise and make you arse twitch like a rabbit's nose. Did you try one of Mick's monster burgers at Portsdown Hill?
  22. Spent a couple of hours there. It should be renamed ther Pre-War British Bike Only show and autojumble. At one stall I was told that Yamaha is a dirty word.

I've only changed bikes when they've died or been killed (except changing the CG125 for the GT750). The GT was killed by a moron that ran me off the road. The CB900 blew it's gear box (Grouch desease). The CB750 just died under me. I was knocked off the GPZ600. Basically every bike I've had has been the right bike at the time and I've been sad to see the going of all of them.
  24. I'm 47, have never owned a car licence and never wanted one. I ride all year round pretty much every day (but not in the snow, I'm not insane). Why do I love bikes? Couldn't tell you, it's not a thing that can be put into words.

I may be missing something here but how can it be taxed and tested if it's not registered? The listing says 'needs registering'.
