also normally cheaper online and as long as you have a bike on the road you don't mind waiting, plus more head scratching time
  6. OK Drew, will we fit the oil can cafe in this time, just so I know not to pig out at mccie's first

how did you check it ? when I had problems it was caused by oil soaked wires behind the front sprocket cover when i checked each wire separately they looked fine but when i checked one end of one wire with the other end of the other wire I could see the power was bleeding across the two.

  12. I was so tempted to stick a like on this one Glad to see you've not lost your sense of humour DDT Idlejohn all I can say is we all like a bit of banter on here, stick around you'll get used to us honestly, if I were you and had somewhere dry to store it, then that's what I'd do its a classic design and as they get older and rarer the price is bound to go up

I seen a clip on youtube using cable ties. I had a pack in garage so while I was waiting for my tyre levers to turn up from Ebay I thought I'd give it a go and to my surprise it works great for alloys, no risk of damage to rims

Welldone Drew for sticking with it, I knew you'd get there eventually
  15. As Drewpy said I'm afraid, although I think the 1980/81 was a much better looking bike than the earlier squarer shaped one's £840 is about what I paid for mine brand new in 1980 so they've held their price really well

pretty straight forward and a good idea, I was forever changing the points on mine back in the day. for me it was it's Achilles's heal never had any other problems with it, mind I did have it from new and only kept it 18 month's, (member) Jimmy will have a different view and I think Drewpy has gone back to point's on his XS400 tracker cos' he was having problem's with the electric ignition but he's not very good with electric ingnition's ha ha ha
  19. Cheers guys I'll take a look later, see what I can find.

Great intro to bike's on the back of your Dad's bike, that's what started it for me and also come to think of it, my first pillion was my Dad when I was still on L plate's co's he had a full license it was legal.
  21. I wasn't going to say anything about this as I don't want to put anyone off going because I had a brilliant time at squires despite the smell from the septic tank but the smell was disgusting and I think its only fair to warn any new campers. I don't think i'll be camping at squire's, I think i'll try & find a campsite nearby, does anyone know of any close to squires? might even do a B&B yet, I'll have to look into it
  22. Just couldn't make this although its on my list for next year looks very good, have a good time anyone who's gone or going
  23. I don't know if you already have the paint but if you don't you could try this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200803251515?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I used it on my xs400 82 which look's same colour as your bike and its a very close match used on a silver base coat.

Jimmy could have been worse, you could have got a flat up the highlands with no signal.
