  1. Alright mate, welcome to the forum re the steering lock, turn the handlebars to the left then turn the key. Dont know if its your first bike mate, but dont rely on that for security. Get a good chain or disc lock. With the neutral light, you'll need a manual to trace the wiring

  6. Thats the unit with the round connectors. Lift your seat off and you will see the connectors you will need. Try and get one to check yours with, to ensure yours it at fault before you splash out £40
  7. Alright mate I have done a bit of work on my boys 92 sr125. He had a bit of bother with a weak spark. I worked my way through and put a new plug, plug cap and lead on the bike. It ran a bit better but still not sweet. I had to replace the CDI Unit and the bike ran sweet as a nut for about six months, then the same thing. Unfortunately I had to replace the cdi again but, touch wood, the bike has run well since then. I got the cdis off ebay, so the problem I had was replacing a 20 year old part with another of the same age. Your bike will have the cdi unit with a white, and blue square block connectors. The connections changed to round blocks. I tried to find out if I could use that unit and just change the connections but never got a definitive answer. If you know anyone local with a similar bike it only takes 2 minutes to change over, and give yours a try. Best o' luck mate.

    Clock I had read that story in a book I picked up back in the day. Myths and legends of Great Britain. On all my bikes I get a mural painted on the tank, Windsors Phantom Huntsman, also from the book Funnily I havent got it on my Yam yet. Its the first non black bike I've owned and will need to speak to my pal to get the colours right.

    Dont know about ghosts, but I saw Auld Nick once. Back in 1982 I was camping in a field just outside Prestatyn in North Wales. A few of us having a drink, my pal playing his guitar and generally having a good time. Twas the first time we'd been away on the bikes and we had had a good day out in Rhyl that day. Anyway I staggers off to my tent and as I lay there unable to sleep I stuck my head out the door of the tent and came face to face with this 2 legged figure about seven foot tall, staring straight at me. I had pitched my tent beside a hedge so nowt should have been there. I lay there unable to tear my eyes away from this figure and could hear snorting like, breathing coming from it. In my frightened state I started to see its eyes glowing red and could see a tail swishing. This vision seemed to last forever, but was probably only about 10 - 15 seconds when I heard a couple of my mates making their way over to their tents. At this point, Lucifer snorted and walked off. I lay awake just about all night and as soon as it got light I got up and went out the tent to look for evidence of my vision and noticed for the first time, a small gap in the hedge looking into the next field, where happily grazing was a number of horses. I had obviously interrupted dobbin as he stood, face on, contemplating life as he knew it.   14. Alright mate, I dont know what the compression reading should be, however if you check the right cylinder and compare it with the left it should be roughly the same. Did the problem start right after the carb work, if so I would be looking at checking the settings on the carb also compare the plug colours.
  15. Parki When the bike cuts out have you checked it still has a spark. If you can carry a plug key or a spare plug around then if it cuts out, test for a spark. That will help find if its electrical or fuel issue. It may be as simple as the filler cap vent being blocked, so check that out as well. It will be an easy fix, just may take a wee bit of time finding out the exact cause. You may find you get more replies if you open up the question in the workshop/tech secton of the forum, I know it says forum help, but this thread is for issues with the forum, posting pics, links etc. Best of luck with it mate
  16. Alright mate Looking at the Haynes book of fairy tales, the manual covers sr125 from '91 - '03, so I would take a gamble on those years. Ask the seller if it fits, or the return policy if it doesn't

    Smoking

    Around 18 years ago my auld man went to the docs for a health check. At the end of the visit the doc says along the lines of "thanks for coming in, goodbye as I probably wont see you again". My auld man asked why and the doc replied "well if you keep smoking as you do you will be dead in a year". His lungs were fucked with asbestosis so the cigs did not help. He came home, gathered up all the smoking stuff in the house, threw them out and stopped there and then. He also stopped drinking as he said every time he had a pint, he could murder a fag. Years later I asked him to come out for a pint and his reply was that if he had a beer, he would have a fag only this time he wouldn't be able to chuck it. My auld man died 3 months ago with the asbestosis, but got 18 more years without the fags.
  18. Alright mate, welcome to the forum. If you need any advice on the xs, I would say BURN IT NOW, failure to do so will result in pain, suffering and heartache as well as ridicule from your mates, at least that was my experience back in 1981.
  19. If sticking with Yams, what about an XT/SR 500. A big single and relatively easy to work on.   20. Oily rag condition is the way to go. As long as the important stuff is well serviced (brakes, engine etc) the rest looks good with age. re the guy with the kettle, has he just completed a full resto on a Triumph 5ta, and go by the name of geoff?

    As Airhead says, T Cut. You can buy it with a type of pen you rub over the scratch then use the liquid. If you want it done right there are a number of "Scratch Away" type companies that will come out to your house...Dunno how much they cost tho'
