Hi John, nice choice of bike there..
  2. Cheers dt502001.. had a look at some youtube vid's and seems a pretty straight forward job (if you have a steady hand ). Doubt I have the guts to do it to my pride and joy though.. but will definitely look into it.
  3. Thanks all. Will have to look to see how easy it is to remove the sub plate. Way past my comfort zone though..
  4. I managed to f'up the sump thread by over-tightening the plug using a torque wrench. Very basic error I know and I'm ashamed to admit it! Does anyone know or can recommend where I can go and get it fixed. Either Helicoil or similar in SW London. I wouldn't even attempt it myself. I spoke to the local bike garage and they reckon a tap might work (as they don't do Helicoils) but I have no idea about tap (and dies) and if it will result in a bigger sump plug being needed. Again a job I wouldn't feel confident in doing. I've looked on-line and there are a lot of positive reports about Helicoil lasting better then original threads.

I personally would wear whatever made me stand out the most to those muppets in the streets and more importantly gave me additional confidence as a rider.

I have used Wurth chain lube on all my bikes. Not the cheapest but it does the job. No muck flinging off it and chain seems lubed enough. (Good wet protection too).
  7. I did the basic of school boy errors over the weekend..did an oil change for the first time but overtightened the sodding sump plug and crossed threaded the sump. I'm blaming the new torque wrench of course...
  8. Love the swivel helmet cam....

Those muppets are everywhere.... I don't by the "didn't see you" crap.. just bad driving. As for indicating, takes too much sodding effort for some folks.

I'll call a couple of companies first and tell them what you plan on doing. They should be able to quote. But generally they don't favour modifications too much. However, definitely declare it with them if you do go ahead otherwise your insurance will be null & void and you could be facing some legal issues..

Hi, welcome and best of luck... YBR's are quality bikes!
  16. To be totally honest, I can also see your point. I'm no expert and can manage maybe the basics at best, so agree you're are doing the right & safest thing by getting it sorted by the "experts". Sounds like the bike wasn't too safe and not really worth risking your life on it unless you are confident in your abilities mate. Although as Noise says, we've got to give it a go at some stage .
  17. +3 mate.. make sure you get a quote before they go ahead with anything, and then add at least 20% for unforeseeable's. Hate to say it mate but £300 sounds waaaaay too cheap but really hope we're wrong. It is a main dealer or a back street place?
  18. It's a Merc driver but same sh*t.... dam close though! glad it didn't turn out worse.

Turns out it was a good move then Mat, could have been driving around in a death trap without knowing (especially as it wasn't your fault!)

Agree with contacting the insurance company.. but (not advisable) maybe say to the car you hit "this is the number of they guy that hit me, who admits liability and sort it out between the two of you".. may not work but at least you can try flush out if they are scammers.
