  1. I think Drewpys nailed it, there are too few people that follow or abide by the rules, and then you have another lot and sometimes these are the older drivers that have been driving for years, that don't even know the rules or plead ignorance.
  2. In Outlook under Tools Accounts, select your email account and click properties, in one of the tabs there will be a setting that says 'Leave messages on Server' and a box selecting how many days to leave. Have a look at those settings to see what they say and get back to us. Also BT is currently upgrading some or all of its email services to Outlook 360, have you had any messages from BT about this?
  3. As above I only reapply if I use a detergent to wash the bike as the detergent will remove the ACF50 quicker than plain water, if its a quick ride out and it needs a quick wash down, I just hose of with water, no soap.
  4. Had a mouse make a nest in the bottom of the front coil spring on our motorhome, only noticed it when I was takeing the van for its MOT, no sure where the mouse ended up, it may have hitched a ride to one of the camp sites we visited last year. I still have the nest outside on my bench in the warehouse at work, it keeps one of the younger toe rags away from my kit as he wont go near it.
  5. I was given some gear including a one piece Weiss waterproof oversuit, and a pair of Hein Gericke leather trousers. Althought the Weiss appears to be pretty much 99.9% waterproof I prefer my standard over trousers that I picked up from an outdoor gear shop and are basically hiking over trousers, as they are so much easier to get in and out off. The Hein Gericke trousers were black with silver writing and a couple of silver stripes, and as much as I don't really care what I look like, I didn't feel comfortable in wearing them on the Dragstar, so I hit the silver parts with black spray paint, now with a pair of longjohns under them, the over trousers on top my bottom half is warm and dry, my top is just a basic Akito textile jacket with thermal lining that so far has proven to be waterproof.
  6. Gameing? Not something us old farts do very often, Windows 8 runs Pong & Space Invaders fine....
  7. I have Windows 7 on my desktop at home and work and Windows 8 on my new laptop, had Vista at work, and as already said well worth moving from that. The only reason I can see to move to 8 from 7 is to get access to all the free stuff available in the Windows Store, and there is some good stuff there, navigation with the mouse takes some getting used to, but once you get into it, its not that difficult, its just different from using the old start button, how many times have you being digging deep into the start menu to get to that sytem accessory and then miss with the mouse and have to start again, the easiest way is to type in the search box, that works the same on Windows 8 but you just start typing from the start screen, simples. My laptop has a multitouch touchpad, this give two and three finger gestures and swipes and to be homest I find with that, the windows key and a couple of keyboard shortcuts, just as easy as a touchscreen, possible easier as you dont have to reach so far, I dont miss the start button at all, as the more you install the more the menu in that becomes a mess, you have easy access to the desktop via the desktop tile, and you can pin your favourites tot he task bar, startscreen or create an shotcut as in Windows 7. I like Windows 7, but I like Windows 8 more, it can do everything that 7 does but better, I dont miss the start button, Metro is fine once you are used to it, removing the glass effect from normal desktop windows to me makes it easier to concentrate on what you are doing rather than seeing blurry images of whats underneath, and you get access to all the stuff in the Windows store. Just my point of view....
  8. I sort of like it, but its not balanced, it needs something more at the back, I think Drewpy is right, if the exhaust went up under the seat it would look so much better.
  9. Sounds like your battery is OK. I would start by cheking the earth wire to the starter, and cleaning it all up.
  10. Snow = a definite NO for me. I keep the bike on the road all winter but it only goes out if its above freezing, the engine braking on the Dragstar would soon have you off on ice.
  11. Picked my Dragstar Classic 1998 with 6100 miles on it in August 2011 for £2100 :-) Was well pleased at that price.
  12. Went in the late eighties when I had my XJ600, mad Sunday was.... well just Mad.
  13. I have an alarm/immobiliser, disk lock, chain with ground anchor at home and always put the steering lock on, and it is locked in a garage, we also have two dogs that let us know if anyone is outside. When I am out and about I take the chain and disk lock, this will generally stop the normal toe rags, not sure if it would stop the professional thieving barstewards.
  14. With that colour scheme you could be a bike courier for DHL

    fek fek fek fek

That brings back memorys... Screaming along flat out on my FS1E with expansion pipe along the Oadby bypass, just about reaching 50mph, then Brrrrrrrrrr......., Pull the clutch, coast to a halt thinks fooook, got to push it back to Market Harborough, left it for about 15 mins, tried to re-start, away it pops and continued journey at slower pace. Has similar with an RD200, but that was a non starter afterwards.
  17. I was with Swinton Bikes in 2011, when the renewal came in 2012 it was nearly £40 dearer, I went back onto the Swinton Bikes web site and got a new quote, came out at £15 less than the original 2011 price. Tip: Check the renewal against a new quote from the same company.

    Midlands meet

I am just south of Leicester at Market Harborough, one of our blokes at work lives in Loughborough.

    southern meet.

Sure the title of this says Southern meet? I live in Leicestershire so that would suit me, even Peterborough is less than an hour away, but I thought Leicestershire was the Midlands

    Homebrewing

The beer kits are easy enough if you follow the instructions, key things are to make sure every thing is sterilised fully, and to bottle at the right time, if you bottle too early you get excess sediment, if you bottle too late there is not enough yeast to use the bottling sugar to give it sparkle. I find the Bitters and stouts easier than the lagers.
  21. We have a motorhome and although you do see a lot of them pulling small cars, its a very dark area to what is actually legal and what they are getting away with. The only real legal way as the mini is not on the road, is fully trailered.
  22. You need to look for basic GPS not SatNav. My phone, a Nokia 5230 has built in GPS, it does have SatNav for driving but it also has a basic map function where it just pinpoints where you are on a map. Maybe try the walking or hiking sites for something.

    New Gloves

After reading about the latex gloves under your normal gloves I thought I would try something similar, the wife has these thin pairs of white gloves that she puts on after hand cream to let the cream soak in, a pair of those under my normal gloves seems to have made a difference. I think its just down to layers, doesn't really matter what sort of material, but more thin layers are better than one thick layer, with a wind/water proof layer as the outer.
