That's awesome Get some pics up with the fairing on.
  2. Just go over the usual checks (Spark plug, check it's getting fuel, floats aren't sticking etc).

Mine makes clunking noises or sometimes nothing at all. I find that I have to give mine a little bit of throttle as I crank it over or it wont fire.
  4. Anything we can do with the front? Mine is as hard as a runny shit.
  5. What's your mileage? It's unlikely but it may have just done too many miles and thus needs a top end rebuild. Could be lots of things really but I think it's most likely something silly that we haven't thought about yet. You tried switching over to reserve? Sometimes the fuel taps get a bit blocked.
  6. That's fine. It's just a part of the circuit to confirm everything is in working order. It's only when it comes on while you're in gear or doesn't come on at all that you need to give it some attention.

That's a mental bike Should see how it does against your 675.
  8. I went but it was pretty poor.
  9. Strip your carb and check the floats are intact and not sticking open. Sounds to me like something is causing it to flood the engine.

Ok I'll bear that in mind. I know somewhere I can get a good deal on a set of Michelin Pilot Sports. Any of you tried these on a Cat?

DOT 3 should be fine. What you'll need to do is get a length of tube and put it over the bleed nipple on the caliper. Fill up the fluid reservoir and then you can go about bleeding the brake. To bleed it you will need to loosen off the bleed nipple, pull in the brake lever fully and retighten the nipple. You will need to do this a number of times until there is just pure fluid flowing through the tube with no bubbles. The braking action should be much improved afterwards.
  12. There should be some but not excessive amounts.
  13. Just ride it gently for 200-300 miles and then give it an oil change.
  14. I get the impression it's a 1976 DT125 but I'm probably wrong on that one.

Even if I don't have the guts to say it, at least his bike will go "COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON...COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON...."

About 40bhp and a completely different riding position. If you're using it mainly for commuting then you're probably best off with the FZ6 but if it's more of a toy for you then the R6 is the way to go. If it were down to me, I don't reckon the difference between the two bikes is worth an extra 3500 but it's up to you at the end of the day.

I'm reckoning you wont go far wrong with an Akrapovic/Skorpion slip-on or a Micron.

I had something a bitl ike this on my Cat. I would ride out of London on the M1 and after I've gone past about 5 junctions or so, the bike would start running rough. You suddenly feel like it's gurgling a little and opening the throttle sharply from closed would initiate some coughing and spluttering before it picks up. Very lumpy at idle too. Whipped out the air filter and gave that a good clean and ran a couple of tanks with Redex added. Been fine ever since.

You tried cleaning out the air filter and running some Redex?
  20. Rejet means to change the main jet in the carburettor to suit the modifications carried out on a machine. The mods I've recommended will mean you go up 2-3 jet sizes.
  21. Wrong and wrong. The final drive on a DT is 16/55 for the older DTR and 16/57 on the later DTRs. 17-18 teeth up front is alright as long as you're quite light. The powervalve is not necessarily derestricted just because it's the static unit. They use a pin to hold it partially closed which helped them keep it within the emission limits and it also limits to power to make the bike learner legal. You can remove the pin and spin the power into it's open position but you'll lose bottom end power so what people normally do is fiddle with the valve position until they're happy and redrill another hole to stick the pin into and thus hold the valve in position. What you want is a fairly even balance of low and top end power. With the later models they eliminated this problem with a servo unit.

I could've sworn they re-released the TZR50 in 2003. Before that it was the old ones kicking about.

Wrong. It would probably be an improvement That's not good because the driver will think that because his car goes faster, his dick must be bigger too.

    Absolute minter mate. Well done
  25. Hehe that's awesome. Really good detail on it.
