DT400 vin #s to years
I have the Frame as being a 74 DT250 made for the Japanese market as you say, and the engine Is from 75 DT400J model bike. If restoring to go back on the road, it will be classed as a 74 bike as its the frame vin which governs this not the engine.

The sort of diagnostic answer you'd get from a Kwik-Fit fitter.

Help with 77 dt 250
Dont know if your sorting the spring type of brake switch to be in keeping the bike standard or not? but I do away with all my springs and connection bars on mine and fit these pressure switches. for both front and rear master cylinders http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 EDIT just had a thought being a 77 yours will most probably have a drum set up, so the pressure switch wont be much use will it? anyway for those that do have, use a brake pressure switch much easier than springs and rods.

Yamaha DT125RE restoration derestriction catastrophe!
Maybe some help with your paint coding Consmos, as you know Yamaha had a few different variants on their Blue paintwork schemes, but your colour code for the Blue on your 2004 bike is, Deep Puplish Blue Solid e (0583) As for the carb, I'd be inclined to whip it off again and give all the jets a good clean with carb cleaner, and a very thin piece of wire just to make sure, check the Gauze filter that sits inside the petrol intake spigot on the carb, a fair few people miss this filter, as when they disconnect the tank petrol tap hose they disconnect and leave the hose on the carb, unaware theres a filter where the hose attatches to the carb. Compression testers can be bought from Ebay etc, for around £15-£20 ball park figure, always a useful piece of kit to keep in the tool box, with testing yours should be around 95-100 psi, is your Airfilter cleaned and primed with 2t oil? also try a new plug, I'd bang an Iridium plug in, very good long lasting plug, giving a stronger spark too, in my opinion.

I really want your helps.
Fazl, you need to get your brother in Toronto, to contact his local Yamaha dealer. For a 1992 DT200WR I get the model as being a 3XP3 the part number for the cylinder is 3XP-11311-00-00, as Airhead says there are 4 part codes for the pistons but they are all stating as being the standard size pistons, 3XP-11631-01-A0, 3XP-11631-01-B0, 3XP-11631-01-C0, 3XP-11631-01-D0, Piston Rings are 3XP-11610-00-00, Small end Bearing is 93310-316C9-00, Cylinder base Gasket is 3XP-11351-00-00, Cylinder Head Gasket is 3XP-11181-00-00. Also there might be a small chance you can buy the Cylinder/Barrell from Ebay, a couple of lads in another forum I use that have the DT200's often buy second hand parts for their bikes on there. Hope that helps you.

Cheers Consmos, The Monster Energy neoprene fork covers on the Black/Green bike I got off Ebay, Acerbis also do them, I've just bought some for the White/Green 89DTR, around £20 if I remember right, again a search on Ebay should bring some up. If you need a hand with any more info just give us a shout.

oh aye pics of the bike so far, am changing rad scoop panels, for new type ones . It's pretty much going to be a White version of the Black one, or as near as damn it. Some pics of where I am with it at the minute. Still a fair bit to do to it, decals need sorting, , resprayed sidestand needs swapping with the one thats on at the minute, and the rear indicators need fixing on, engine casings need spraying, banging the powervalve servo on, Acerbis neoprene fork socks to put on, get forks sprayed White and Green. Hoping to have it sorted for this weekend.

My 1992 YAMAHA DT125R PROJECT
Got the rebored barrell back yesterday, all specs to stage 3 now, and had a new liner put in for the 4mm oversized Wossner piston Weird scoops are to keep the bridges/edges of the port cool with fresh cool mixture to stop seizures, and rear 7mm hole for better lubrication, has been suggested, certainly not seen the scoops on other pistons

Headlight Bulb Upgrade
Not tried the Nightbreaker or the 55w Xenon bulb, but did get told that the HALFORDS EXTREME BRILLIANCE H4 472 EB 12v 60/55w was a very good upgrade by a couple of lads who have got them in their bikes, very bright indeed and just the job for dark country lanes.

Crimbo on it's way. What's on your list?
The aftershave I sprinkle round for when the dog has bad wind, and the shower gel smells a bit like swarfega, lovely picture on the front of the shower gel, its an exploded view of a wheel drum and hub.
