Yes front brake is more effective both in dry and wet BUT in the wet going round a bend back brake is safer, you release it when ya feel bike move before ya get high/low-sided. Go round the same bend and hit front brake, should the front move you will not get the chance to correct anything and down you will go. Ttaskmaster,,,,,,me was just giving a wee tip, thats all FOR THE NEWBEES The sequence for braking is front first followed quickly by the rear. Anyway,,,,,were thread hijacking now and i started it so apolagies

If your not wanting to stop or stop suddenly then back brake is the best in the wet. Some dont agree with this but it is better. Lets ya know exactually what the bike is doing,,,then just release it if geting into boather,,,,,,,,,,where as if using front brake in the wet and ya have a miss-hap,,,,,,then ya get no chance and you will hit the ground. B)

I take it you are rebuilding the bottom end of your 175. What your manual means is >>> the bearings only need a thin smear of grease in order to get them to slide on, after that you wipe away the excess. There will be no grease left for the oil to mix with so you will be fine. Same with the gearbox. Dont drop or damage your crankshaft in any way or its bye bye engine,,,,,,BUT im sure you know this allready or-else you wouldnt be attempting the rebuild. Its kinda up to you what ya want to do but oil will do the same trick instead of grease,,,,,,but tis prob best to follow the manual ! Hope This Helps

I just did visit Scotland, was there last weekend, had a great blast round the place with the man himself = Blackie and his dead sound mate Sandy, who very kindly gave me his Fazer 1000 for a lovely blast round the "Moulin Mour" mountain roads. The place is lovely and wonce outa any town the roads are quiet of traffic. I will be back again on me own bike some time soon for a good 5 / 7 days spin, but the place is so vast that a few weeks would be needed to see it all. Anyway, i agree with your vid Drewps,,,,,, Visit Scotland,,,,,you'll be glad ya did !

Yep, new tyre ya need. Stay off the straight motormays and take the twisties instead.
  24. If master cylinder was working before then it will be fine. The DT rear calliper is hard to bleed, cause it is almost at the same leavel as the master cylinder. Conect everything backup, but take off the rear caliper and let it hang down towards the ground, dont damage the pipe. Fill the resevoir and pump the the peadel with the nipple closed till you get a spoungy resistance. Open the nipple a bit and if there is a lettle oil comming out then You can put the calliper back on. Then its normal bleeding poceedure. Pump peadel few times then keep it held on. with your other hand open the bleed niple a bit, some oil will flow out with bubbles, Close nipple before brake peadel gets to the bottom and looses pressure,,,otherwise you will draw air back into the system. Repeat this til no more bubbles comes out bleed nippel and only oil. When your finished the brake peadel should feel firm and not soft or spungy. If ya ont want to take calliper off then do it like KirriePete is saying Oldgit is correct,,,, no oil will flow out of a pipe if it isnt conected to the calliper. Good luck and keep posting if your in boather.
