Chief, check oil pump adjustment (cable and minimum stroke length). Air filter also. Don't ditch the pump!

Hi, try nrp-carbs.co.uk, or call 0161 832 8646. They do a comprehensive range of replacement diaphragms/carb kits. No, I don't work for them. Good luck

I had a similar experience with my Thundercat; turned out one of the plugs had fouled. They can't be cleaned. Try swapping your decent plug(s) to a plug HT thats not sparking. Good luck

Hi, if your sitting in traffic for a long time then I think that this is normal; as long as it cools a bit when the fan kicks in. Mine does it when I get stuck in traffic. Maybe you should try filtering more! Don't know about the pirelli's, I always use bridgestone's; great in the wet and all round. Hope this is of some use. Cheers

Changed transmission oil lastweek, it's now empty.. no leaks :S

Chief, I'm no expert, but it might do some good to balance your carbs Good luck

Might it not be that this is the standard set up; your light should point slightly to the left anyway. Usually this is adjusted by moving the light itself. However, this does sound a little unusual. Probably best to do as already advised and take it back to the dealers

Adam, a few years ago, out of desperation, I bought a kickstart shaft from a ty175 to fit my dt175. I checked the part no's and they were identical apart from the prefix. The shaft now languishes on a shelf looking down at me and laughing. One day I'm going to grind the splines off the bugger to teach it a lesson. It was an expensive mistake Hope this does'nt complicate the issue Cheers

Vez, for fuck sake, its not the end of the world

Hi, just a silly thought: have you got the air and idle screws mixed up ? If not I retract the possibility of and offer my apologies.
-
Gladly, but I will need some lager first.

Hi, if its a weak spark, the colour of the spark will be yellow. If your heart is strong try putting your hand on the spark plug as you turn it over; if you get zapped then its sparking. If not , try replacing the supressor cap . cheers

It'll still be under warrenty, take it to a yam dealer

I remember in 1985 when I'd passed my test but continued to ride my sukuki (freudian slip, ive just seen the photo) A100 when some cunt on a 400/4 slagged me off for riding a tiddler. I could have strangled and forced a beer can up his arse, I was that angry (and still am): The best thing about smaller bikes is the joy of embarrasing wankers on bigger machinery. Anyway, most of such riders can never use the full potential of their bikes anyway. Tell them to whistle Dixie

It probably is an overflow. Take it back to the dealer you got it from
-
Chief, drill some holes in the fuckkas
-
Chief, the 'nipple' is a overflow for the carb. It does'nt connect to anything, but it should have a length of tubing to direct the over-flowing fuel away from the motor. This usually exits behind the engine. Hope this is of some use

Help wanted, my dt ticks over too high. Have set the static ignition timing. After a certain point, decreasing/ taking out the tickover screw makes no difference; screwing it in does increase the idle speed though. Have set the air screw. The jet needle is the standard 3 notches down from the top. The carb is a 3U500, ie model 4J4. I have no air filter element (but I do have an airbox fitted) I'm wondering if I have a dodgey aftermarket cable as my oil pump markings are well out. The identification markings on the metal pulley are 3JO. There are a few markings on the pulley itself, but with the cable removed the dot and dash markings line up with the pin on the pulley, ie no throttle. Just wondering if this is right. The manual is not clear. Any ideas would be most appreciated . Thanks
-
Chief, the clutch adjuster on the bars is not there to vary the biting point. It is merely to take up the free play on the cable. On most bikes you should leave about an eighth of an inch. The exact amount will be in the manual. Hope this helps
-
Hi, I actually took off the throttle cable and started it but still the same. I suppose it must be an air leak. Cheers
-
Ideas wanted please, my dt seems to tick over too high and whatever adjustments are made at the carb make no difference. It has a new throttle cable, running a standard airbox and I'm sure there's no air leaks. thanks

Thanks, there did seem to be play on the brake plate; I suppose I'll have to pack it out? Christ, I've bought 2 sets of forks, thought the buggers were knackered! Cheers
-
Hi, when I pull the front brake on there seems to be play somewhere on the front end. It is definately not the headstock bearings so I'm assuming its the fork bushes (which I believe is a common problem). Can these be replaced or are the forks scrap? Is this an MOT failure? Need some help DTMX guru's
