  1. Where are you based Andrew? There might be someone nearby who is going and can meet you part way through the journey. Ride the rest together.
  2. More, please! I have managed to sneak in 3 so far. Well 2 1/2 really.
  3. I can't make this year but it is 100miles from me. I went last year on the TS that was running like a pig and wouldn't realistically do more than 45 MPH constantly. That with an untested engine and a bike just rebuilt and on the road for a week since 1995.
  4. No need to apologise fella. The beauty of having the workshop - and other specialist sections - is that the people with an interest and knowledge of these specialties tend to "hang about" in them more often. This normally gives a better selection of advice, opinion or help. Easily remedied.
  5. No problems Billy. Do you leave your fuel tap on when parked? Before you need to start it, take out the plug and describe the colour and dampness. What happens if you try and start it with the fuel cap off? What happens if you try and start it with the air filter off? - If it starts, turn it off as soon as possible. Don't let it run for too long When was the last time the carb was cleaned out? That should start you off. Let us know what happens on each.
  6. Welcome to the grumpy club. One of the good things about being old is that you can be cantankerous, everyone will expect it. Rather than old, I would say "experienced". Welcome to the club and be happy you made it.
  7. But isn't that the point? The reason that there are different sections is that people can follow what interests them. Some people may not visit a particular section, Classics for example, because they may not have any interest in classic bikes. Having different sections allows people to just follow what they want without trawling through everything else. Maybe the question should be; why should anyone be against posting in the correct section? I disagree with the comment about "debating society". There have been some good debates and opinions shared, and sought, over the years on this forum.
  8. You will need a compressor to give it a blast of air to get the tyre bead to pop in. Attach the compressor and lightly bounce the wheel where the bead isn't sealing as you give it some air.
  9. Sparking will be a different issue.
  10. You should loosen the nut in the center of the clutch. Push the lever to the front. Move the center adjuster until the marks on the case and the lever align. Tighten the nut up. This should work assuming you have assembled the clutch correctly, not forgetting the little ball between the push rods.
  11. Have a reputation of being a very good bike. Good choice I think. I used to do their warranties and was impressed when I visited the factory.
  12. Not been yet but may be worth visiting or somewhere to meet up for a brew and bacon buttie. Looks like it is regular on bank holiday's. LINKY.
  13. Have a look at Noise's project tread here should be a good start.
  14. Moved to the workshop section.
  15. Could be. Also you may need to make sure that the spindle that the puller goes on is fully turned in the direction that the puller pulls in before you line the rest up.
  16. I don't want to get into finger pointing fella. Just for people to have a think. We all cock up from time to time and it isn't a "life or death" situation. just meant as a reminder and for people to seek assistance if they need it.
  17. I understand that there will be occasional postings in the wrong section. I use my phone to access the forum. I am now using tapatalk 2 which I recommend. This can also cause double posts where the 3/4G service is patchy. A problem arises when a new poster comes along and, seeing a number of workshop threads in the bar, does the same in the mistaken belief that they are doing the right thing. They can then get told to post an intro and post in the right section as their first reply. This doesn't show the newbie the true helpful nature of the forum. Recently, the newbie first question posters tend to get a very supportive hint to post in the newbie section - this does depend on how their original post comes across - and a lot of them shoot straight over and post an intro. Hopefully, this means that the new member will stick around for a lot longer than one question. Better to get it right than possibly being ignored. The Mods have the power to correct most things. This includes; changing titles; moving, hiding, deleting, combining threads; and more. All that is required is for the OP to post that they want the thread moved etc or PM a Mod and this is easily done. A Mod may take this upon themselves to do this anyway. If anyone thinks they need some help, just shout. The Mods don't bite and can help.
  18. Happy Birthday from me too.
  19. FFS, why?? As I write this, 5 of the top 7 threads in the bar are WORKSHOP questions. It only takes elementary reading skills to find the WORKSHOP section and post WORKSHOP questions. In case help is needed, WORKSHOP is spelt like this. WORKSHOP
