    Whats gone wrong

    Safety is number one priority. Remember that a main dealer will cost the earth but a bodge job could cost your life. Meaning you are taking the bike to a dealer guarantees nothing (except a big bill). I know dealers who have cross threaded a drain plug on the first service and tried to bodge it. Who "forgot" to reconnect rear brakes after a service etc. Do you have a mate who does their own mechanics who can show you? Have a look HERE This shows you the basics. Problems you come across are seized brake nipples that can shear and if you have duel pot pistons, one piston comes out and the other does not. There is a simple technique to stop this from happening.

    Whats gone wrong

    Caliper seals are easy to change. It is just the chance of seized bolts that could be a problem. Normally 2 rubber hoops per piston. plus some brake fluid, anti seize brake grease and bobs you Uncle. Not hard to do. Linky
  5. It brings a different meaning to being "rear ended"!!!!!!! I think we should stop all this now...........................please.
  6. I concur with the answer above regarding the 2 options. Remember ballast resistors can get very hot and can melt or catch light to things! What are you riding, a Christmas tree? Good luck from the Northern Hemisphere.
  7. Hi and welcome. Enjoy Bruges but be careful of the cobbled roads in and around there, especially when wet. Very slippy. Good eating just off the main square.
  8. Hi and welcome. Tyre wise it looks like your ID plate says 2.50 -18 both front and rear and gives you the pressure's also.
  9. Cheers. '02 plate, 12k miles, 2 owners, around 1000 miles in the last 6 or 8 years not including the zorst - £1100. Can't go wrong.
  10. It sounds like that "up your back mountain" film. Did you hear about the gay cowboy? He rode into town to shoot up the Sheriff
  11. Dare I say a SV650 Restrictable, cheap, light, loads about, small, good MPG but still good fun. I have one and I love it. Here is my one;
  12. Bargain, That is for the whole bike, isn't it?
  13. I like Ghostbikes too. I have only brought mail order from them but everything has been perfect. Better still, don't forget to use the discount codes at checkout........... what's that? What discount codes? If you spend £50 to £100 try using GB5 when at the checkout under the discount section. It should give you 5% off. Spend over £100 and use GB10 for a 10% discount. I think GB15 works sometimes but never got to GB20. Well they used to work and you don't have to log it to try them if you are not sure.
  14. :lol: don't you just love this forum sometimes?
  15. That thread is older than me maff
  16. Get a bike mover to do it for about £75. Or just ride it there. Rugby to Manchester? That is a commute.
  17. Had a Cortina (Mk4) and an Avenger and a Viva and a Corsair and a Triumph mk2 2.5 pi and a Hillman Imp and 2 Austin Maxi's and 2 Mk 1 Escorts (learnt and passed my test in one too). Too many cars to remember to be honest. All run on a shoestring. My favorite was a Citroen Ami. Like this one;
  18. Something you get in Thailand
  19. I guess so but I call it span. There is a link to adjustable's but he will "reach" when he sees the prices .
  20. There should be 2 adjusters, one at the top of the cable and one at the bottom. Your user manual should explain how to adjust this. In simple terms the top of the cable, near the lever, does fine adjustments and the adjuster at the bottom of the cable, near the clutch, does larger adjustments. Before you mess with it take some pictures so you can see what it was originally like in case you need to put it back to how it was. Even before this make sure you are not confusing span with adjustment. The span is how far you have to stretch your fingers to get to the clutch lever to pull it in. If this is what you need, due to smallish hands or fingers or it is just plain uncomfortable, then you really need to look at adjustable levers. Before I post a link be aware that they are NOT cheap and most bikes do not have adjustable span levers as standard. An example of adjustable levers is HERE.
  21. Thank you very much for sharing. My life will never be the same again! Off to cry tears of happiness now.

    Goodbye

    WHAT................... we built a wall to keep the Scots out. What happened to that? I'm not offended. I was just starting to enjoy the banter.
