Clear coat,,,
That is a right, royal Pain in the a***. Glad you could salvage it. I got the dreaded crinkle on the last piece of the TS. I had to strip it right back. I must say that there is a distinct lack of pictures for this project John!!

Great Scottish Bike show
This made me think. Will Carole Nash (and other insurers) still insure bikes in Scotland if the Scottish people vote to leave the UK? Would a bike brought in Scotland have to be re registered and shown as an import if brought by someone in NI, Wales or England?? Tis a funny old world.

SR250 help?
Valve clearance adjustment should be made with the engine cool, at room temperature. When the valve clearance is to be measured or adjusted, the piston must be at Top Dead Center (T.D.C.) on the compression stroke. Take the plug out and when you turn the engine the compression stroke is when the piston is rising (air coming out).

"Upgrade" to Windows 8???
There were 100's of the 8 upgrade DVD's in a bin at Tescos's a few weeks ago. £49 I believe. I am not going to bother. I would if I was on Vista.

SR250 help?
I am not sure if these were officially imported into the UK. The ex valve is the one towards the front of the bike and the in valve is to the rear. I have the tappet and other specs for the sr125 I can post when I get home but I am not sure if these are the same. It may help though.

Rockin the Yamaha Exciter SR250!
This is a great intro spoilt by sarcasm. People don't owe you free help and advice but they are more likely to give it to people who are polite and follow the netiquette of the forum.

Stolen bikes
Not that it may help in your circumstance but something like smartwater, datatagging or the likes would show where any parts turned up. I got a bottle of something like it when I insured the TS with carole Nash. Each major part can be marked and each has a unique number which can then be referenced back to the owner. Not fool proof but better than nothing. While people are prepared to buy whole bikes without any paperwork, this will never go away.
