if the piston is stuck with the crank, cutting away the small end will let you take the barrel off. If both are stuck, then you would have halved the effort removing the barrel taking the piston out of the equation.

get some bronze ones made, you have an original nylon so it should be easy enough to measure and look on ebay for similar ones

you'll burn out the coil (and probably the TCI) if the ignition is on all the time without the engine running. must be the ignition switch.
