sorry to hear that, I witnessed 2 car crashes this morning, both into traffic lights! can you bounce the forks and they return ok? try loosening the stantions one at a time and twisting them round, if it goes tight, they are bent. you can get them straightened, but they would have to be taken off the bike, might be cheaper to buy front forks!

wrong thing to do! the plating is a sacrificial coating designed to stop the integrity of the spokes being compromised. I'd say paint is your short term option. get stainless spokes or have them replated for a permenant solution

As you are probably aware a Hurricane Hit Glasgow in the early hours. Hurricane"BAWBAG" sent winds gusting to 100mph in Easterhouse, victims were seen roaming around aimlessly muttering "where's ma wheely bin?".
