  1. its the exposure to air which fecks up the fuel. the fuel injection system is totally sealed, hence no issues
  2. OK you never mentioned a modded air box, that will fuck up your fuelling at the top end and it will run lean. Its a bit scary finding loose stuff and I would be inclined to check every single nut and bolt on the bike before use. maybe you can look at a stage 3 jet system to offset the air box mod (nit sure exactly what has been done)
  3. looks great, saw the 500 GP at Donnington '89 I think it was. when I first saw those bikes change direction, I though they were falling over!
  4. I use a toothbrush and wheel cleaner (acid) as well as gunk

  8. sorry to hear that Grouch........................YOC group hug .
  9. if the bike's been standing any while, the modern fuel leaves a varnish and gums up the carbs, try some carb cleaner. also is the battery ok and charging? ecu won't like it at high revs if the volts are low. i suspect a main jet if its at the higher rev range
  10. don't forget motoward and yambits you also get all the receipts I have collected over the resto so should have everything you need I have also sourced abroad cmsnl (dutch) yamahatopdog, bike bandit, old bike barn, and parts N More (USA)
  11. Aldi have one in ATM. they do two types, the highest wattage is the better one as they won't slow down when under pressure and they sell a bit kit too. I trim welds down and port cyl heads with them

  15. yep, one in Bolton and cheap as chips too
  16. On the XS, you get an S cable which loads up the suspension keeping the chain as it would when off the bike. this keeps the chain tension correct, 20mm for my bike
  17. maurice (people call me the space cowboy!) bit dodgy asking for manuals as the Gestapo threatened the site owner to delete all thread to links etc you ain't got no bike till we see the photos
  18. aye, classic multi bike policies with agreed value and import bikes is what I'm interested in too
  19. what shite weather? bit cold and windy, but I'm not complaining. even camping this weekend
  20. Happened to me few years ago, with CBD and Mike right outside the pub carole nash to the rescue too
  21. use wet and dry paper (soapy wet) with the wheels off. the white stuff is alloy coating itself. use progressively finer then you can get one of those wheel buffers that fit the drill. this is a lot of work but if you want it shiny, elbow grease is the only way (unless you pay someone to do it) same for all the alloy on the engine. you could also try Alloy wheel cleaner as its phosphoric acid and and tooth brush, then polish as before.
  22. Merv likes Artics, so he's in Heaven ATM
