well I think I have finally found the leak. I smothereed the bike in talc and went for a ride. If I ride up to 40 then there is no leak, continous riding at 50+ gets the Torre Canyon treatment on the back wheel. After faffing replacing every seal I can think of, it's coming from the stater area. As I have put my ignition switch opp the starter motor, the oil at the bottom gets flung up, I put a baffle there to prevent most of it travelling, but for some reason, its throwing more up. this then gets into the hollow where the starter is and drains through the drain hole right where the chain it etc and then it sprays everywhere. Ordered a core plug the same size as the hole and I'll grommet it for the ignition wires and that should be that! I've ringed the drain

bloody hell, the carbs flooded again only because I filled up the tank, so I think the spring on the fuel tap diaphragm is a little weak! problem this time is the bike sounds like a bag of nails and runs shite. All i can think of the fuel bore washed the bores and broke a piston ring. I'll have to strip the top end and do that porting job earlier than I thought. looking at a gasket set on eBay ATM but I know it won't be done till march next year now as I want to do the Gilera.

i fitted a twin disk on my xs400 as fitted to the xs1100 and 750/850. uses the same caliper design it did stop on the proverbial dime and could even lock up the front I suggest a caliper strip down and M/C rebuild as they should be good stoppers!

my first bike was a cd175 and I learned to spanner on it as I never rode it. I also had a plastic maggot which was my workhorse at the time -
