XS Brake compatibility
magura springs to mind. yep some 650's had twin disks!! you could always go FZR400 disk and a modern nissin caliper and then make up new mount!!!

Calling all SR250 owners - more help needed
that's what I had to do to mine. made big washers and drilled 3 holes around them to get some weld in there. also had to weld a "top" on the mainstand as this was worn as well ( both wheels touched the ground on mainstand) drewps

XS Brake compatibility
if you have 2 disks for the front that's fine. thought you only had one (250) on the front! just helping you source another disk if the master cylinder from the 650 was for twin disks, it should be ok!

XS Brake compatibility
if you have the mounting for a caliper on the left side, you can use SR500 caliper and caliper mount (it even says left on the mount) you can get disks either from ebay or maybe the sr (not sure!) you then need to make up some new hoses as they will have to go from the master cyl using a double banjo. you also need an XS1100/750/850 master cylinder to push more brake fluid. the wheel has a plastic cover on with drillings for the brake disk.

Cleaning Petrol Tank
nut and bolts, parafin and shakey shakey. I would suggest lining the tank with POR15, its a kit with acid etcher and the 2 pack sealant. I'm assuming your from UK as you said petrol, so www.frost.co.uk is a good supplier drweps

81 Yamaha xs 400 petcock
you normally don't touch it as it works from vaccum. don't have it on prime, that's whe you disturb the carbs and they need filling before starting. the bit you use to turn ie the long part should be; down for on, and forward for reserve and pulled facing backwards for prime could be the pet-cock diaphram is perished, you can buy kits to repaire them drewps
