  1. havent had the fireblade out in the winter, but i used to ride the DT50 through the backroads into the next town to get to school, there were some pretty steep residential hills and sharp bends, it was more just a case of using the engine braking as much as i could, slowing down and lowering my feet just incase there was a slip i would atleast give myself a chance of recovering from it, sometimes were would be impatient cars behind me, but that was their problem, my first concern was keeping myself safe and upright a good set of knobbly tyres helped no end (Y)

oh no there werent any funny cigarettes, just normal tobacco, i get drugs tested at work the cider was good though, just looked the recipe up on google, bought the spices from tesco and lumped it all in the biggest saucepan we could find, couldnt find a strainer so it was like proper scrumpy
  4. fireblade is tucked up under cover until the sunshine comes out, would much rather be bombing around in my 4wd armchair purely for comfort reasons

was up at leicester uni last night with some old mates, we ended up mulling our own cider and stayed up until 3am drinking and listening to pink floyd, was a very mellow time, man :|
  6. Well it wasnt the royal mail, it was the military supply chain lol, was sad to see it go, was going to have it mounted on the wall
  7. Also, the plan for this bike is to do everything i can myself, with the XJ i had the wheels refurbed, forks redone, frame powdercoated, engine head welded, carbs rebuilt and will probably have to get an exhaust system made for it. but for the DT it will hopefully be used as a cheap alternative way to get around the RAF base and the local area without having to run the car on short trips, i will spray the panels myself, probably enamel paint the frame, re-coat the inside of the tank, the only thing i may have to get redone is the forks as the chrome has flaked off around by the yokes, but other than that its all my own work. im hoping to have this bike done for under £500, possible exception being the forks Drewps: that acoustic is staying where it is, its only a Nevada dreadnought anyway so nothing special, i bought an unbranded one off the jinglies in afghan on my first tour and took it everywhere i went, anyone who played it (or tried) had to sign it with permanent marker, it got signed by americans, afghans, estonians, pretty much a person of every nationality that was out there, sadly it got trampled on when i posted it back to my UK unit
  8. The nut should definately not be finger tight, i would suspect someone has had that flywheel off there before :s
  9. Check it out peeps, wether its tyre beads, prop wash or adjustable power bands, you can find it all here! Looky Looky

    new dog

I saw him laying in the road the other day, lick his ball races...
  11. i would advise against machine washing, all our military issue goretex stuff looses its waterproof properties when washed and im assuming that the spada gloves will use the same sort of technology i would suggest turning them inside out and using a mild detergent (fairy liquid) with warm water to gently scrub the inside and hang them up to dry naturally
  12. only problem is with wearing vinyl/latex gloves as unders is the sweat doesnt get removed, so you end up with sweaty hands also, when your car is refusing to start in the cold weather or needs that little extra kick to get going, de-icing windscreen spray doubles as an 'easystart' alternative when sprayed directly into the intake in small doses, a must have for any classic mini owner , alternatively de-oderant spray will suffice
  13. np martin, just wondered as that was my old DT and would love to have it back. as above, make sure you have a method of holding the flywheel whilst you tighten it up, the flywheel pullers arent expensive, check out Yambits on eBay, he usually has all the tools you'd need
  14. i dont see the problem with riding all year round aslong as you are switched on enough to adjust your riding to suit the road conditions and what you can expect to find in certain places or 'VPs' (vulnerable points). for example a road next to a field that is prone to flooding, more likely to ice over in the winter months. as for your test, i spent about £750 on mine because i had to retake my Mod 2 and had more lessons whilst waiting for the second test, and the wankers at the lights?, wait until they fuck up and bin their several grands-worth of crotch rocket then ride past flipping them the bird removed the second post
  15. welcome to the forum, and congrats on buying a DT50, i bought 2 quite recently after recalling fond memories of my old DT at 16, (do any of your DTs have the registration G237MYA btw?), the later models were CDI but the earlier ones were just points, it would be possible to take the old flywheel and points set off the engine and replace them with the new bits as to my knowledge the engine blocks were exactly the same, i do have a wiring diagram for the original DT that had points if your interested?, i made a whole new loom for one of my bikes
  16. Sir, ive tried seeing things from your point of you, but i cant get my head that far up my own arse. - Foamy,

  18. Assuming it is a PREDATOR system it could be possible as they design most of their systems to enable use of a centrestand, to be 100% sure i would say give them a call, when i was looking at getting one built for my XJ650 Turbo i rang them up and they were extremely helpfull.
  19. As does laying warm fudge in your undercrackers

    Plasticote

bollocks, if i wasnt away over the weekend i would nab some for the DT and XJ
  21. common problem, my XJ had the same problem and i found it had melted the plug that went into the reg, spares are available cheapest on eBay, just search XJ600 regulator and make sure it is for the pre-div years (84-91 i think)
