first day out!
hi everyone, took my CBT today. started off with the basics, parcticing in a car park e.t.c and after a couple of hours i got out on the road with th einstructor, after a couple of hours we stopped for a burger king (as you do...) before continuing the test for another hour or so and ending up back at the Railway station where we had started. since then i've not been off my DT, first thing i did when i got home was get my insurance sorted (£225 Third party F&T with Swinton) and i am really enjoying this little bike... keep asking my dad to let me play with his CBR900 Urban Tiger but he is somewhat reluctant

Knobhead on my street
drop the sump plug out of it during the night (use a bucket and dont spill any) that ought to stop the bugger... failing that i second the idea of expanding foam, no doubt you already have the required black clothing for a midnight sabotage mission...

Yamaha Owners Club Stickers?
i could work a bit of photoshop magic if you like, but we still need to find a way of printing them and distributing them in sticky form

DT50MX head gasket
the bike had the engine completely rebuilt because the perosn that owned ti before the bloke i bought it from ran it out of oil and it seized. not sure what happened to the gasket though... will be sure to give it a good seeing to when its all stripped down though. the exhaust has only done about 5k as its an after market "BIgOne" (coupled with the correct expansion chamber.) btw, what tourque should i be using on the head bolts? i havent been able to find out

DT50MX head gasket
i'd be best putting a new gasket on methink, the bike has done 22k so its bound to need replacing (the rest of it is almost pristine though). will log into ebay and get one when i get home. have had t take the seat and tank off to get to the head though

Fuel tank identification
it was advertised as a Dt50/125 fuel tank but no indication of what year :S

DT50MX
I have that problem with my DT50, i think its normal, if the revs are up its not usually as bad (mine has a knackered battery anyway). check your battery with the engine running to make sure it is charging, then check it after leaving it to stand for a while to make sure it is holding its charge

DT50MX head gasket
well i fired up my trusty thrusty yammy today and noticed it was blowing from the head. inspection with a torch revealed that there is a little leak around the seal of the head, so im assuming the gasket has been cooked or the head hasn't been tightened correctly (which would ruin the head gasket, no?) my nearest dealer is ProBike, and im not waiting another 3 weeks for them to get a head gasket in... took them 4 weeks to get me a sprocket, would rather mail-order from the 'net

DT50MX head gasket
hi everyone where's the best (cheapest) place to get a head gasket for a Yamaha DT50MX (1990) or would it be possible to cut one out of gasket paper (if so what thickness gasket paper) - Steve

Fuel tank identification
hi everyone. bought this fuel tank for my Yamaha DT50MX but it doesn't seem to fit (it overhangs the frame too much and catches on the exhaust expansion chamber. the blue tank in the pic is the one from my DT50MX, maybe someone could help identify the black tank? im pretty sure its from a trials bike as it looks remotely like a Suzuki TS tank.

DT50 Gearbox oil change
Hi everyone. i want to change the gearbox oil in my DT50 MX (1990) but what oil should i use? thanks Steve

r1 wont start
surely when he says he's getitng fuel he means fuel in the engine?, i.e. its already been primed so there is fuel in the comb. chamber
-
Well, of course
i really want to do something like this, but on a DT50 it would take too long and be far too awkward. maybe next year when i've got a bigger bike and can get it all planned, a few weeks in ireland sounds good so maybe its something to consider... i feel like a complete t*t for asking, but what bike is that?...

honda
HAHA, took a while to click, but once you get it, t'is indeed a good joke .

idiots in shorts
Lies! would love to go see Thailand from my little Dt50, either that or Australia, not too sure about wearing all that leather in the Australian sun though. i spent my holidays in Mijas, Spain. there you couldn't move without getting flattened by people wearing only a helmet for protection (stop sniggering...) its no surprise mopeds have such a bad reputation

THIS FORUM
the only bike i can correctly identify is the DT50 i quite like the R6, looks very pointy and angular, like a stealth fighter...
-
THIS FORUM
yeh, noticed the feedback button a few days ago, i said the forum is well laid out and usefull but could do with a darker color scheme to suit the R6 banner at the top of the page. The forum has adverts because when you use those advert links the forum gets a bit of money towards running costs (which arent cheap!)

Bike thief
in the second picture looks like the scumbag is carrying a set of bolt cutters. probably incase they needed to cut through padlocks or chains, i would think they may have been after your bike(s) as i cant see how they would use bolt cutters to break into a car or house... best send those pics to the police and see what they say, the second to last photo may be of some use if he is known to the police, and no doubt he is. stay safe mate

YBR 125 Seized rear brake
i would think it would be the calipers that are sticking, it may be worth taking them off, stripping them down and cleaning all the shite off them. failing that, try a different set of calipers if the chain is worn its worth changing the chain and sprockets as a set (i did when i got my DT50 for peace of mind) and it will occasionally need a bit of adjusting as it stretches (should be around 1% for sealed chains, 1.5% for non sealed
