Are the caliper pistons in contact with anything. If there is a gap between the piston and pad, pad and disc or both then there will be no pressure. If the pads have taken the space up and thats it try pushing them back into the caliper. This should force fluid back up the line and get things going. Oh and the pipe. Vital. Like having a bike with no petrol.

Fill her up check the mileage and zero the trip if there is one. Ride till it runs out and you switch to reserve. Check milage. Then fill up 10miles before that. Worked for me for the last 25 years.

Easy do the math. 4000rpm = 4000 x 125cc gives 500000 cc of air. Thats 500 litres of air a minute. 10000rpm = 10000 x 125cc gives 1.25 million cc of air or 1250 litres of air a minute. You can get clever with velocities for given diameters and such but it does make you think. Becomes obvious why the power difference between 2 and 4 strokes too. You can halve those figures for a 125 single. As to the different top end. Think on this. If the bore is worn on a 4 stroke she burns oil and loses compression. On a 2 stroke there will be less draw into the cases as charge from above the piston will be drawn down reducing the pull through the carb. Just imagine losing even 5 per cent of the volumes from earlier and the effect on mixture and performance.

Not sure on this. Electolysis is a proven idea but it wont remove rust. You are extracting iron from the Steel. I dont see a benefit. You need to stabilise the chemistry in the tank. Ie reconstitute the rust back to iron chemically. That will stabilise the metal. Then seal the metal off from the primary villan. Ethanol and water.

Nothing. Once upon a time petrol had little or no moisture in it. And kept the tank clear. Your dad ever told you to keep the tank full to stop it rusting. Original be buggered. If you dont seal the tank it will rot out in the end.

Your stripping away the layer of metal the rust is attaced to leaving nice clean unprotected steel for the water to corrode. I'm surprised you could get phosphoric acid in any quantity unless it was very dilute. That makes battery acid seem like handwash. I cant remember the stuff but you need a chemical that strips oxygen then the iron oxide aka rust will return to the more stable iron and then seal it. Or use one of the complete sealing kits. I used one on the tdr. Only 60 or so quid. Just make sure they are ethanol stable and it will be fine.

So filling the tank with a couple of litres of acid is a good thing steve? The fizzing is the acid digesting the steel. Vinegar is primarily water with between 5 and 10 percent/vol acetic acid. Your making rust.

Dtdan that is not a good idea. Put it in gear and rock the bike with the clutch in. Keeping the revs up and clunking it into gear can damage the dogs or the selectors.

Think some of the extra cc comes from stroking the crank. You already have the best option. Give it a try and see. Once the top ends are on the bench its just a case of measuring up.
