  1. Rebuilding the dt has been frustrating in many ways this time but the engine is sweet now. I have never felt it stronger. So strong in fact that the kin kick start bust this morning. Not fair. Compression too to bump it as well. Needed 4th to turn over and i cant run that fast ha ha. Bugger!
  2. Thats unlikely. I have built vehicles to try and bridge that gap and it dont work. You have something that is average at both at best. It will be weak on the track and frustrating on the road.
  3. Now i know i havent got much spare cash and it aint going to improve but your bike is just dead metal without that valve working properly. Some corners can be cut. On carbs..you can't. You float valve is buggered you need a replacement.
  4. Ewww why do you want one of those on your bike. Special charging equipment. You have to be carefull how much you take out and the real bonus. If not charged properly or their damaged. Even lightly they catch fire. Oh and the chemicals inside are nasty...
  5. All you have found is the float moves. The level of fuel in the carb is a critical measurement. May just need attention on the float valve.
  6. Ok....... Wasnt even a taxing green lane. The kind of stuff you travel to get to the good stuff. More money than sense.
  7. Loosen the fork clamps off and give yhe bars a tweak like you used to with a pushbike. Then nip up the bolts...

    They only fetch 1800 quid or so in good nick. Some jokers ask 1000s but thats either tiny milage minters or total rebuild restos.

  10. Possibly. You will have to be careful. Your bike uses a torque arm. Most disk equipped yams have an antirotation bracket on the sw arm.

    From experience 1st oversize (0.25) is rare as boring to 0.25 normally does not remove enough metal to return the bore to true round. Its only removing an 8th of a mm from the liner. The more common choice is. 0.5. Certainly what was reccomended to me on my dt. They would not do the bore (with my. 25 piston) untill they had measured the bore to make sure it could be done.

    dt running again.

    I just cannot believe how easy she started. Litterally 3 kicks was all i needed. Not big swinging angry stamps either just kicks. Did spend a good bit of time getting the timing spot on. May be stating the obvious here to some but the flywheel keyway is at TDC transposing that to a mark you can see made it easy to set TDC then measure the advance needed. All gen gaskets, gen piston kit. Replacement inlet manifold with a new airfilter. Again genuine. The bearings too are yam. Save for the output shaft bearing. Suppose it should fire right up....
  13. well took longer than i wanted with work getting in the way and waiting for parts but she is back on the road. Was brilliant. Turn on the fuel. Bleed the oil pump. Couple of kicks to prime. Pull choke and turn ig on. More in hope than anyexpectation. Started right up and sat there at around 1500rpm. Great to have her back. The tdr is fun but my day to day go to is the dt. Pretty she aint. But every scrape is mine. You can keep the museum pieces. Happy bunny....

    ok if its someone on here i feel guilty..... Xt 125 got a bit ahead of themselves today. Couldnt be arse to play chase after 400mile in the truck. Not to mention using my baby in these awful conditions. Well the next turn they did it again. Im assuming they thought it was another 125. So once the road straightend a little i made like the starship enterprise. Warp 6 mr sulu. Still feel guilty though.

  21. Shows a neat paradox. The same people that think your risking death are the very same folk driving with utter dissregard for their own safety. Not 10 mins before reading this a bmw (no surprise) overtook me forcing the oncoming traffic to brake big time. Narrowly avoiding the lead car. Why. Not 500 yards ahead it became dual carriageway.

  23. No grouch it wont. Have you EVER in all the time you have had that bike trawling the internet to make go. Found an exhaust that can give that kind of boost. The dt struggle to pass a real world 75. Que the many million mph dts. He is blowing smoke up your pipe.

  25. I learnt how to keep strokers running on fs1e. More importantly my mate who. Being considerably better off money wise threw all sorts of stuff at his. This normally needed me to fit it and then repair it when he repeatedly threw it down the road. Good times.
