robjohnston Posted May 12, 2008 Share Posted May 12, 2008 looks good, Ive got a 2002 DT125R [soon to be sold for upgrade]. There are a few things one can do to improve the bike. First off, I would not recommend changing to exhaust this early. Keep the stock exhaust as it is so mint. If you do end up getting a DEP or BigOne pipe, then consider running with the stock exhaust during the winter/rainy months. The third party exhausts rust a LOT quicker than the stock exhaust. Do take care of the front exhaust pipe, with one as mint as that, I would recommend spraying WD40 on the first specs of rust, then rubbing them off with wirewool. Alternatively, some gritty metal polish will get any forming [surface] rust off. Same goes for the wheel rims as well. Something you can do for a bit of fun is the following. Under the seat there is a rubber L shaped bit of tubing. It is on the top of the airbox, so if you remove the seat it will be the first thing you see behind the petrol tank. This pops out quite easily [its not held with any bolts etc]. Upon removal you will be left with a square hole, in which you can see the airfilter. Ensure the area around the hole is nice and clean. This makes a small difference to the top end of the bike, and the noise. When revving the bike on low revs it has more grunt. Simple, no-cost and easy to put back in place. Do keep an eye on the airfilter itself from there on. It can tend to get a little more dirt build up. Oh and make sure the airfilter has a good coating of oil. Apart from that, enjoy your DT.
