hi mate. the restrictors would most likely be in the form of a resonator pipe on the exhuast( a random pipe coming of the exhuast leading to nowhere) cut this off and weld it over so the pipe is flush where the restricor was. also on geared 50s on the manfold where the carb attaches to the crankcase there is a metal washer which basically pulls the carb out further thus slowing flow down. check the cdi aswell, if theres a random pink wire coming out of it its mostlikely the rev limiter.

also for a bike sitting that long you might want to strip all the oil / petrol pipes off and either renew/ or leave in hot water so soften up as they go stale after a long time

checked the reeds? usually chipped/snapped reeds cause loss of primary comrpession and backfireing.

Hi, what you may have experience is a light seizure. had the same thing on my old runner 70, the cylinder still had compression but the finger over the spark plug hole will not let you know if a badly scored cylinder its proves that doesent work as you can get compression with half a piston if its turning over quick enough. what you want is a compression gauge and measure the compression regularly for ring wear etc., also like others have said the worn belt would mean your clutch was basically having to work harder before hand to engage meaning it could be very worn, so check for genral wear and tear also try some stiffer clutch springs, and mabye drop a gram rollerweights. hope this helps...

Alright everyone, im Jamie. just thought id say hi to all of you.... ive been heavily into scootertuning from a youngage and have built one or two decent scoots, but after saving up for a while i can now afford a bike ive always wanted, a yamaha dt125x. im selling up both of my scoots so i can pay for the dt (2.400) and i cannot wait to be on the road with it im not 17 til may so it gives me abit of time to get the bike looking really nice. i plan on doing my a2 this june and i cant wait!!! anyway sorry about the life story, nice to speak to you all
