studly256 Posted April 25, 2007 Share Posted April 25, 2007 I HAVE A 1979 YAMAHA 1100 XS THE FIRST AND ONLY BIKE THATS PULLING 309 HORSE POWER THE LARGEST HP ENGINE YAMAHA EVER MADE. THE 4 PISTONS ARE BIGGER THAN 350 CHEVY 4 BOLT MAIN. I NEED TO FEEL THE POWER BETWEEN MY LEGS AGAIN! I replaced the wiring harness. I replaced the Ignition Switch. I replaced the Coils. cjh Posted April 26, 2007 Share Posted April 26, 2007 hello ime having the same problem with my xj400 and although i dont now a lot about yamahas as its my first one i have been asking a lot of people who do now and the advice i have been given may help you. have you tried the alternator or dynamo wich ever yours is and also a simple thing but a very common problem ime told and that is a bad earth to the engine i hope this has helped you in some way as i now what its like to have run out of ideas hope you sort it out. corey Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ctfz1 Posted April 26, 2007 Share Posted April 26, 2007 Alright lets not be silly, not 390 hp. Assuming cranking over, check power to coils, then check spark. Wires , plugs or poor connections check. Spark ok check fuel is wetting plugs but not flooding. This bike uses vacumn advance and petcock. check both work. Then tedious right wire right place. patience. I NEED TO FEEL THE POWER BETWEEN MY LEGS AGAIN! 309Hp from a 1979 1100 standard tune, dont think so, one of my mates has turbo'ed a fireblade and that put's out 300Hp Try 75hp @ 8000rpm as here: http://www.xs11.com/specifications/f-spec1.shtml If it was the largest Hp Yamaha ever made why dont they still make it!!!!!
