Sorry about this...

I have a 1994 Virago 535 and I am looking for a cheap tool kit for it......

I presume I am looking for metric tools, not imperial...

Sorry to be such a f*** wit !

Depends how much work you intend to do

Basic kit would probably be a 3/8 drive socket set, sockets 8mm af to 19mm af

set of hex allen keys, 2mm af to 10mm af

couple of medium sized flat and crosspoint screw drivers

a hand hammer, 1 1/2lb

Just collect the kit as you go along after that

Lidl and Aldi have reasonable tools in at a fair price, just watch for when they have them in

...also maplin have some decent tools for a good price. lidl and maplin are the places where I buy tools when I need

I'd always advise against cheap tools, as you'll be replacing them when (not if) they break.

Halfords do decent quality tool sets at reasonable prices.
Try and get a set of spanners too - The ones that are open at one end and ring at the other. Very useful!

a rubber mallet is in-dispensable too, great for putting in wheel axles, recalcitrant parts and loosening barrels/clutch covers stuck with age.

the most ones I use are:

Halfords 1/4" metric socket set

torque wrenches x 2 to cover the diverse torque range

10mm and 13mm spanners x 2

12mm 17mm 8mm spanners

various different screwdrivers as each head has different sockets

Allen keys

impact driver

heavy hammer

tack hammer

and a plug key

and a plug key

comes with the Halfords kit unless you have a particular deep spark plug recesses

I have box spanners for that

No probs mate, I was just thinking back to servicing my boys 535 and I used my plug key as opposed to anything from a socket set.

My Halfords set (the sub-£100 Pro set) include a range of looooooooooong sockets that have rubber inners, for such things as spark plugs.

Add the extension bar and you can reach anything, even on a Dragstar!!
