Hi all Im just about ready to send the crankshaft from my xt 550 away to get a new con rod fitted. Now the angel on one shoulder says buy a new crank pin. the devil on the other shoulder says if there is no play on the original pin, your fitting a new baring anyway, refit it.

Im trying to keep the costs down as this bike is starting to burn a hole in my pocket.

anyone got any advice for me ??

My view is if it fails after the rebuild it is going to be a bigger expense to sort it later, replace when it is in bits.
