April 29, 201212 yr Author Because it's snapped off I have no idea. The size of the hole is 5mm so I presume that's it. I emailed them earlier, but I'll ring them tomorrow to make sure.
April 29, 201212 yr Author The bolt just snapped, the nipple was really badly corroded and as I turned it snapped. This whole calliper is a mess but hopefully it will be ok after fixing it. That's if I can get the nipple out.
April 29, 201212 yr Author I bought a set of the screw things, i'll use a soldering iron to heat up the screw. We'll see how it goes.
April 29, 201212 yr Moderator you'll need a blowtotch, a soldering iron wont touch it. Failing a blowtorch maybe boil it in a pan? then spray a little penetrating oil on the screw...(take precautions, dont burn your hands!)

April 29, 201212 yr Moderator no you need to heat the caliper so it will expand fractionally, then spray inside the screw to cool the screw and so contract that item...work quickly
April 30, 201212 yr No blowtorch then use your oven, gas mark 6 (15mins) and cool the broken nipple thread with and ice cube.
April 30, 201212 yr Better yet, just leave the snapped nipple in place as drilling it out may well end up with you buggering the seat if you go too far with the drill. Then go get a banjo bolt with built-in bleed nipple - 10mm x 1.25mm bleed banjo from WEMoto - just remember to tilt the caliper so that the banjo is at the highest point when you bleed it.
May 1, 201212 yr Author I will try and get the pin out using a set of bolt extractors + heat (new nipple and extractors arrived today, worth a shot?). If It looks like it wont come out I will buy one of them banjo bolts! I wish I had done that first!
May 1, 201212 yr Author In fact, I won't even risk it. I'll test to make sure it's sealed and then buy a banjo nipple combo bolt! Also Airhead, those seals were perfect! Thanks.
May 1, 201212 yr Moderator Personally I would drill it out. The heat of drilling it and some plus gas may loosen it up enough to get the bolt extractor on it.

May 3, 201212 yr Author OK, I put it all together today. I think it works, although I just got off and I felt some moisture on the bottom of the calliper. Please say my piston seals are not leaking, please. I will check again tomorrow, I have a spare pair of seals so I might be ok.
May 4, 201212 yr Author Scratch that, it's f**ked. It's leaking past the seals, both sets. I guess its either a whole new calliper or take it into a garage.
