craigcartell Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 just to add i took my test and lessons in very bad conditions and had one test cancel due to weather conditions but want to be safe on the road
Moderator Airhead Posted November 1, 2011 Moderator Posted November 1, 2011 the trouble with winter is its effin cold and the salt will wreak havock with your pride and joy!
Ttaskmaster Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Take it slow, leave plenty of room, don't do anything sudden... pretty much the same for riding in heavy rain. Wrap up proper warm and be aware that the cold will dull your awareness and responses.
craigcartell Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 thanks will have to be extra careful. do any of those products work that claim to protect your bike from road salt etc
Moderator DirtyDT Posted November 2, 2011 Moderator Posted November 2, 2011 GT85 for salt protection. Make sure your chain is lubed. Tyres are correct pressures and have some tread. Nice and steady on the throttle and brakes. Keep away from the hash marks/white lines. Wipe your headlight clean regularly. Being cold/wet/tired sap the concentration so try not to be any of these. Laugh when you don't see another bike rider and convince yourself that you are the stupidest hardest biker in the world. Don't let anyone see you cry when you take your gloves off, your hands are like crows feet and you can't light a fag. keep your visor clean with cold water as the salt forms a white film on that too. Remember that 22nd December is the shortest day this year so the 23rd of December is really the beginning of summer.
craigcartell Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 haha great advice thanks i will tread carefully for sure and i agree summer starts for me in december haha
Moderator mervin Posted November 2, 2011 Moderator Posted November 2, 2011 ACF 50 expensive but good, spray it on too a small patch and spread with a brush, or into it,s lid and brush on, if you spray it on it runs off leaving a thin layer wasting most of it , then all you do all winter is hose the bike off with cold water, inspect an d recoat any bits that need it, hopefully in spring just clean it all up with jizer and it look good again
Ttaskmaster Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 ACF-50 or Scottoiler 365. Both work great!
