kelpike
1986 FJ1200. Front brakes do not work at all. Is there any way to test the master or the calipers? I'm just about to put the bike on the road and I don't want to spend the time or money replacing parts that do not need to be replaced. Is there a chance that both calipers on each side do not work at all? Can one work without the other?
FJ12SP
The calipers work independantly of each other, you could check if there,s brake fluid being pushed through the system by connecting a tube to the bleed nipple, opening and pulling the brake lever. Fluid should be pumped out of the nipple. FJ brake calipers are renowed for seizing up, most owners replace with Yam Blue spots. Adam.
kelpike
Is it common for all four to seize up?
FJ12SP
Well that depends on a lot of things but if its been stood a good long while and has not been/poorly maintained then yes. Adam.
