  1. If it was leaking and letting air in it will put the mixture right out. My xj650 needs the screws turned out 5 turns(2.5 starting point) but it needs new airbox rubbers, i`m expecting they can go in at least 1 turn once fitted, well i hope they will.

i took the carb inlet rubbers off and found one of them corroded i gonna fit a new 1 ojn sunday see if it does the trick, hope so

  2. Ladies & Gents,

Further to my 1st post it has been recommended that I use a Helicoil but I have had no experience of these, apparntley this can be fitted whilist the sump is in situe?

Has anyone used a Helicoil before & how have they worked?

Any views, ideas or experiences would be gratefully recieved.

    Thanks

THEY WORK WELL BUT IF THE SUMP IS ALLOY U HAVE TO BE CAREFULL NOT TO CRACK IT,THEY ACT JUST LIKE A RAWPLUG ,U DRILL A HOLE TO THE RIGHT SIZE THEN SCREW THEM IN THEN SCREW THE BOLT IN,IF U GET IT RIGHT THEY WILL LAST FOREVER,BUT BE CAREFULL!

  3. The recomended 2.5 turns out is only a common starting point, but 7 turns is a lot. I`m wondering if its flooding, has it been off the road for any lenght of time, if it has the carbs may need a good clean.

just cleaned them tday cheers but found a corroded inlet rubber mount do u think that might cause the problem

  4. let my start with im not very good at spelling sorry. Well ive got a fazer 600cc on a 03 i went to chek the oil today and there was white gunk on the oil cap. now i had a 125cc virgo befor the fazer and i was teld that it is normal on the 125. but is it on my fazer it don 42000 miles and ive don 160 miles sinse ive had it so is it ok or not

ps there is NO oil in the water is it candensation help me

try an oil change, when you drop the oil if it is all creamy and gunky ,the head has gone,if its condensation it is only on the filler cap

  5. I have had my 03 R6 on a trickle charger for about 1 week or so. I went to start it up and when I tried it just made a grinding sound. I stopped pushing the start button immediately and I heard a "ticking sound" kind of sounded like a relay of some sort. I think it is coming from the left side of the bike (when you are behind) kind of by the ecu, in the side part of the tail. Is there an easy fix of this, or is there something I can do to reset it. Is there a test I can do on the ecu to see if that is still good? oh yeah i did a voltage test and with the key out of the ignition it has 12V but when i turn the key to ON it just drains the battery pretty rapidly, i let it get down to 6V at about 1V per second drop. but then tested the battery again and it was back at 12V

sonds like yyour starter motor is jammed up or your starter solenoid is goosed

  6. I have just received a set of nearly new Yamaha heated grips but after re-reading the wiring instructions I am at a loss as how to complete their installation. The negative wire needs to link into the turning signal harness but the diagram they give is that of a FJR1300 (looks very simple!). Does anyone know how I can get access to the turning signal wire harness on a 2007 Fazer FZ1-SA?

would of thought a negative wire would just need to be to any earth on the bike

  7. i just got a 1983 xj650 every now and again it revs really high for no reason(bit scarey when riding)itook carbs off and noticed the inlet rubber mount was worn and cracked inside, any ideas how to repair it and would this cause it to rev up or could it be somewthing else,in need of some help of you clever people please

  8. i have a y reg xj600 pre diversion that will only run when the mixture screw is turned out about 7 times instead of the recomended 2 and a half, any ideas why and what it will do to the engine if i leave it that way
