  1. My recently purchased YZF750R (2000 'W') has an oil leak which I would appreciate some advice on before I take it into my local dealer. The leak appears to come from around the TOP of the engine. It trickles down from the top of the clutch cover, near the overflow pipes. I have removed the tank, and noticed that the bottom of the tank was discoloured from sitting in the engine oil which had collected on top of the rubber 'mat' which protects the electrical cables from the heat of the engine. There is a rubber pipe that goes into the top of the clutch cover, a bit further back from the oil filler cap, but this seems to be sealing fine so I'm not sure where the oil is coming from! A mechanic friend thought it could be oil blowing back into the airbox and leaking out, but the oil is very clean in colour, and normally it would be black if this were the case. Also the oil level was very low, so it was not overfilled. Finally the tacho needle is indicating a fault by jumping to 9,000rpm, so I'm not sure whether this is linked to the oil problem or something entirely separate! It starts first time, runs smoothly and there is no smoke from the exhaust The bike is mint condition with just 3 owners, full service history and only 11,000 miles. Any ideas?
