  1. Yes, I still have those and they are in pretty good condition. The clocks that came with the bike are showing a little over 21000 miles.
  2. Hi Graham, Sorry, the seat base is rotten. My boyfriend brought it round yesterday and it's beyond saving. Sorry to get your hopes up. Ali, your centrestand is in the post today.
  3. I still have the seat if you want the base from it Kayla
  4. I think I still might have the seat at my boyfriend's parents' house, I'll have a look tomorrow.
  5. Sent you a PM redd. I'm only down the road in Washington if you wanted to collect it.
  6. Hi, I know it's in the wrong bit of the forum, Yep!,
  7. I've got an XS250 C which has wire wheels front and back, with drums at both ends. The rims are 18" and the hubs are in good condition. I'm considering breaking the bike (currently a project) as I've just bought an SR250 off ebay Let me know if you're interested Kayla

Ah, that battery sounds very like the one I got for £7 off ebay!

I'm going to remove the starter motor and associated crud and use the space to keep a little gel battery in, just enough to power the coil to kick start it The bike's daytime-only so I don't have to worry about powering lights Kayla
  10. I'd like to see pics of your bike/project please I've got an '82 XS250 that me and my boyfriend are street trackering but I can see it being bobbed over the next winter... I'd be interested to see what the XS frame looks like hardtailed, and who did it for you... Kayla
  11. I've got an XS250 and I think the frames are pretty similar. I'm putting a street tracker together (with my boyfriend's help!) and we cut the subframe back to just past the rear shocks. The cross member that the standard seat rests on looks structural, but if you replace it with something first there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to cut right up to the rear shock mounts. Just make sure that whoever does your welding does it properly! Here's a pic or two of what we did to my frame- not brilliant, but hopefully they'll give you an idea. Here's a page of Japanese chops n bobbers too, some of them are cut right back- http://homepage2.nifty.com/fbs/custom.htm
  12. Hi, Do you have, or can you take some photos of the pipe you're talking about? It's been a couple of years since I owned one and it might jog my memory if I saw a few pics. What diameter is the pipe? Is it blocked at all?
  13. Holy *!$#... Four words for you- Punk, chew, ay, shun. Try it, it's great
  14. To build a battery eliminator you need a few large-ish electrolytic capacitors (like around 1000uF) connected in parallel. This will give a capacitance of around 3000uF which is plenty. You also need a resistor connected in parallel with the capacitance to give your regulator/rectifier a load, otherwise it gets pretty hot. A battery eliminator won't work if your bike needs the battery to get started in the first place, and I think the XS might. I'm facing a similar thing with my XS250- I don't want to use a battery but it needs one (I think) to start. After having searched (googled) for stuff it seems a stator and flywheel from an RD350YPVS (RZ350 in the US) could be a solution. Either that or http://www.sparxelectrical.com/ do a replacement set up that looks ok. http://www.sparxelectrical.com/acatalog/SP...lternators.html and go to the bottom of the page for the 3 phase 210W alternator. You should be able to keep your points set up but lose the rubbish standard charging system, which means you can run your bike without a battery. I think I'll eventually be going for a Sparx kit for my XS, and maybe try wiring a CDI from a recent 4t parallel twin into it so I can get rid of the points altogether. I'm still in the process of exploring my bike so please excuse me if any of my XS knowledge is wrong. Kayla
  15. Hiya! I'm in the North East too No flashy sportsbike for me, my boyfriend's building me a street tracker XS250. I'm looking forward to riding it and looking for a nice new jacket to go with it Kayla
  16. I've had a couple of these bikes and they are great fun. Have you checked the secondary carb is opening properly? The butterfly should be fully open when the primary slide is fully up. You need to push the secondary slide up whilst opening the throttle to check. There's an adjuster inbetween the carbs if you need to alter it. It sounds worse to do than it is- once you see what's what you'll be ok. Hope this helps Kayla
  17. I'm just starting out. Well, my boyfriend is just starting out, lol. I just fancied something different, but cool, that'll happily waft along at 60 down a nice road. We've got it up and running, I'm going to get a seat unit off ebay for now as the standard one on the bike is just boggin' awful. It has the potential to be a nice little bike once I get it looking right and get some of the weight off it (it needs to lose about 30kg. I think aluminium bars and rims and cutting the rear subframe off will help a bit, and maybe a smaller tank from an SR125 or something) The basic street tracker shape is there already though. It'll just get ridden this year but come next winter it'll get a full strip and rebuild (and maybe, just maybe, a hardtail ) God, I love bikes
  18. Lol! I just got one of these on Sunday! It's an XS250 'C', if that helps. Mine is registered on an '82 Y plate and has drum brakes front and rear. Spoked wheels = waaaaay cooler than cast
  19. We collected the bike on Sunday and were pleasantly surprised- it was built up and rolling! We were expecting a frame, engine and boxes of bits but it only (only!) needed wiring and finishing off. My boyfriend spent all of yesterday with his spanners and soldering iron and at about 4pm it wheezed into life So... hopefully... I'll have a bike that's rideable soon. I think I'll ride it for a bit to get used to it then take the grinder to it and try and cut some of the excess weight off. It's getting a street tracker seat unit and nice paint too Kayla (very, very happy with her purchase)
  20. Hiya, Thanks for the welcome Well... I just won an XS250 for £24 off ebay. It's a jigsaw puzzle but it's (apparently) complete and it should make a lovely little bobber or maybe a dirt tracker There's no way I'll keep up with my BF's Buell though Kayla
  21. I thought it only polite to say 'hi' to everyone as I've just joined- no point in lurking at the back looking shifty is there? I don't have a bike (at the minute), although I have had a few small sports bikes in the past- FZR400RR, SZR660s, TZR250s, that kind of thing. My bf has a Buell Firebolt 12 which is very lovely. We're looking to build me a little hardtail bobber this year around an SR250, money permitting (as ever...) Anyway, that's me for now Kayla
