  1. Hi It has a choke on the handlebar. When it starts to go i switch to Prime on the fuel tap and it works then i switch back to ON and it will work for a bit. I think im going to clean out the fuel tap. Adjusting the choke doesnt do anything. Regards
  2. Hi, I have been messing around with it today and have now ruled out the electrics. When it starts idling up & down and cutting out with the throttle, if i switch the fuel to prime it will run ok. Then when i switch to ON it will run for a minute or two and start to go again. I think ill take the fuel cock off next and clean it out. Im hoping i dont have to clean the carb again.... Regards Felix
  3. Hi I have an XVS125 which im having trouble with. It starts and runs fine for a couple of minutes and throttles ok. Then starts idling up & down and if i so much as touch the throttle it starts to stall. Eventually it cuts out and wont start, then the battery will go flat and i have to recharge it. After this it will work for a couple of minutes and do the same. I have cleaned the carb and changed the plugs but this makes no difference. It has a new battery but it was only a cheap one off the internet. Im thinking it is an electrical problem as i have undone the drain plug straight after it cut out and there was fuel. Im not so good with electrics but i have a multimeter. Can anyone give me some advice on finding the fault or have any other ideas. Regards Felix.
  4. Hi I have just finished rebuilding an XVS125 i bought in bits. I have been having problemss with the lights which are now sorted, however the battery went flat a few times when i was testing them. It goes flat very quickly, is this usual? I recharged the battery and started it up, it was running fine so i took it for a test ride. After about 10 minutes of riding i stalled it and could not get it going again. It started a couple of times and was really surging up & down whilst idling. Whenever i touched the throttle it just died. After a few tries the battery went flat and i have just had to push it back home. Does anyone have any advice as to what the problem could be. Regards Mike
  5. Well that seemed to solve the front indicator problem. I now have a biger problem with the back though. The left indicator is not working at all (tested bulb/holder). the right works but also makes the rear light flash. turning on the headlights also lights up the right indicator permanently??? Ive managed to rebuild this bike from parts, all the mechanicals work fine and it started straight away, i am lost however with electrics. All the connectors seemed self explanitary and could all only connect into 1 obvious plug/socket so i dont know what is wrong.
  6. Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes i have switched the ground wire to run the indicator on the other side and it all works fine. Ill try wiring them up to the same grounnd. Felix
  7. Hi I have a problem with my front indicators. one of the ground wires running back through the loom doesnt seem to work. Can i connect this light through the ground of the other indicator or will this cause problems. Regards Felix
