  1. Fingers crossed :)

I intend on being at or guess to being at Glencoe for around 3pm if you fancy meeting up.

Well the plan is to have lunch at Lochgilphead and then then do the north road of Loch Awe.

Maybe see you a lunchtime(12-12.30)I ride an 02 bandit s(blue).my mobile is 07950 *******,if not have a good one :D

  2. Cheers.

I am getting a route done now so just need to try and work out if the times will be ok with being able to have plenty of rest and enjoy a few places. lunch stop etc. Then I will post the route.

Always happy to meet up with people.

No bother mate, give me a shout if I can be of any further help and have a good trip if I don't see you on the road :D

  3. Been a rough few weeks at work at the minute so just need to get away from it all really. Thinking of heading up to Beattock friday night after work as I have people I can stay with and then I have a full day to play on Saturday then back home Sunday.

This pic was the inspiration for the ride

  4. Hi Tomo, been threw Glen Coe loads of times and every time it still think it's awesome, great roads and brilliant scenery, loads of bikes stop at The Green Welly(petrol station, cafe) at Crianlarich on the way up to Oban,Glen Coe or Fort William, watch out for speed traps between Strathyre and Lochearnhead,if you go that way. Some great roads up that way, hope you enjoy your run and keep it on the black stuff,

    cheers Andy :D P.S.

    when are you going?

  5. Hi everybody, could anybody tell me how many teeth are on the front and back sprockets of an 1989 XT600 tenere?I just got a set and fitted them but the rear had an extra 9 teeth to the one that was on the bike originally, must admit the acceleration is a lot better, probably lose some at the top end but I don't really thrash it anyway, just a query,

    cheers Andy :D

  6. The explanation below is very long winded to read but in reality, doing it takes just a few moments.

Firstly a picture published in this forum must exist somewhere on the internet (not on your computer)

For this you will need to "upload" it to a server, there are many free and pay for sites that offer picture hosting some are useable others are not.

The one's that are not useable are often MSN, Yahoo etc this is because they don't allow "external linking" to a file which you will need to do.

Here are some known useable one's:

    www.photobucket.com (costs)

www.imageshack.us (this one is very good, completely free, best to register so you can delete if needed)

There are plenty of others but I'm sure you've all heard of Google.

All of these places will have file size limitations, probably the best size for a forum is no more than 700 pixels wide at 72dpi

If your pictures are still full size from your camera you will most certainly need to edit them in your favourite image editing program on your PC (you did install one didn't you)

Once your file is uploaded to the internet make sure you are viewing the full size image (not a thumbnail) and right click the image, then select "properties" a box will appear in which you can see the address (url) of the image, drag your mouse over this url to highlight it (make sure to include the "http" all the way to the end of the image name which will normally be ".jpg")

Once highlighted, hold down "CRTL" and at the same time press "C", this will copy the highlighted text

Now you're ready to post your image on the forum

Start your post as normal, you will notice above the text area that you type in there is a button like this insertimage.gif, click on it, it will open a small window where you enter the URL to the image, click in the box, now hold down "CTRL" and press "V", this will paste the url you copied a moment ago, now press the "OK" button.

That's it your done, you can now preview or submit your post

Cheers XTreme,I think I managed it,my pics are in the rideout forum, thanks again mate
  7. Don't expect to ride it though....expect to push it!

I spent the latter part of 1971 pushing a D7 around South Wales....god knows how many shags I missed out on!

Should have got a D14,could swap engine into the bushman frame and go scrambling at the weekend, great little bike :D

  8. Hi folks

Back this afternoon, 800 miles completed, 350 of those were in the rain. Tenere never missed a beat. Fuel consumption brilliant, 3 tank fulls and it's actually more comfortable than my Bandit 1200. You see a lot more too because you're not going as quick. Recommend to anyone. Keep you posted to future adventures.

    Cheers Andy

  9. Just thought I'd post it in the classics because it's old! Was given this for free by friends as a non-runner. Decoked the head, changed the chain and fluids, added some not so necessary bits to tidy it up and it passed it's MOT first time! First bike project with my dad and it's been great fun, I feel I've learned a lot (except that you need to check the fuel regularly on it!)

    Whaddya think guys?

    DSC00892.jpg

Good job, brings back memories of my first legal bike in 1983,all the gears are down on the yb100if I remember right, not as good at remembering things as I used to be  The bikes a classic, what's your next project?

  10. Hi folks, just done 800miles this weekend around the top of Scotland,350 inthe rain on an XT600 tenere,if you don;t ride in the rain you don't ride (not here anyway)You can get 4 seasons in 1 morning  As long as your smooth you can still go at a good pace,it's only water :D

  11. Hi everyone, posyed a couple of questions about my XT600 tenere(thanks for the replys)this is just to say i'm off around Scotland on it,up the east coast to John o groats across the top to Cape Wrath and back down to Ullapool and home from there, leave Friday back on Sunday. Will let you know how we get on(me and the bike)

    cheers Andy :D

  12. I see what this group's all about...

As an update... I went home at lunch and the bike sparked and started with no problem. I couldn't reproduce the problem from last night.

Really weird... and scary.... because when I'm in hot pursuit of that elk I don't want to have my steady steed get weak in the knees and make we walk out of there.

Still interested in ideas folks might have. Besides to chase women instead of elk...

    Hi Mate

Might be obvious but have you checked spark plug, supressor cap, ht lead, coils, if any of these are arcing this will cause an intermittant spark. Hope this helps in your quest for Elk or Women, whatever's slowest!

  13. Hi Andy, have one of those tenere,s meself, great fun. i found if you give the throttle a blip whilst engaging neutral its much easier. :D

Hi joe(hope thats your name)I think I'll keep it for a while as a second bike, have you seen the M.C.N this week the new Tenere looks a bit of all right, fancy one of those(hope the wife can't see this),maybe next year,is your tenere reliable as I might be taking mine round the coast of Scotland next week,

    cheers Andy :D

  14. Hi lads, thanks for the replys, done 150miles on the XT today and was engaging neutral while the bike was still rolling, seem to be the easiest way, found the bike a big difference from my bandit(have to plan overtakes a bit more)but on the back roads it was great fun and very comfy.Put in £15's worth of petrol(3 gallons)and still couldn't see it in the tank(huge thing)but still not on reserve after 150 miles,is this pretty good or normal?

    cheers Andy

  15. Hi everybody, first post so please be gentle,I have been fixing up an old (1989)xt600z tenere that had been slowly rotting away for the last 7 years and it just passed an M.O.T. today(yee ha)Might have a few questions so here's the first, the bike feels great and runs well apart from trying to engage neutral,is this normal for the bike?Any info on XT's will be gratefully accepted as it's my first bike with a dry sump,

    Cheers Andy :D
