  1. YEP foz spot on gor a carb from a 95dt the orher day runs sweet as a nut now thanx again. WAL
  2. hey I had a similar problem with my dtr and this foz guy realy knows his stuff... he got me sorted with one post ... I would check the compression first before playing with the carb........my problem WAS the carb... but i had done a full top end rebuild in a surgical manor, so the compression was fierce ....in my opinion (for what its worth) if you are having to use the choke when you cold start and the bike is bogging down at full throttle to begin with and now and again on warming up.......... yet the compression is fine..then it is fuel starvation giving you the problem. my bike really took off when it warmed up before i got a new carb........... but i think that was just the high revs pulling the fuel through ..... just as an after thought when i got the new carb the setting that worked for me was tighten the mixture screw all the way in (dont force it....i dont think your a newbe but i dont want to be the guy who ruined your bike) then two and a half turns out and my powervalve is locked open but the rule is... set the tickover to your preference then turn the mixture screw until the engine revs peak and then set the tickover again (am i wrong?) hope i have helped but if i am in anyway wrong then let me know ....and be brutal wal good luck and if you solve it let me know how pls. curious wal
  3. thanx fozdyke i think you got it spot on the float seems to be sticking ...bent pin i think but cant realy tell so im looking for a new carb rather than spend weeks messing about with it ..im selling the bike when its run in and i dont want to pass the problem on thanx again.. Wal
  4. Yep Had the exact same problem baught the bike for £90 and needed to spend about £170 to get it running ....the exhaust valve , piston and head were ruined. I just did a top end rebuild...new barrel, head, piston and rings, also don't forget the small end. I got the head and barrel from ebay for £30 then took it to a local bike shop and got a rebore, small end and piston kit for £55 I then took the oil pump off and premixed with comp2 race oil and locked the power valve open ....premix and there is only one person to blame. hope this helps and if you get stuck on the rebuild i am more than willing to help if i can
  5. Hey all Im a newbie so cut me a little slack ... iv just rebuilt the top end on my 96 dtr it ran a little boggy when i first started it and the overflow pipe at the bottom of the carb was pissing out petty. so i took the carb to bits and gave it a dam good clean all looked ok so i refitted the carb and ran it again ...... the leak stopped but after a few minutes of riding it started to bog down when i went under 3 thousand revs and this gradually got worse.... it just about got me home after a few stop starts. My mate told me that i forgot to block the 2 stroke pipe.... because i took the oil pump off and i am pre mixing...now it is running really crisp at the slightest touch of the throttle but the overflow is gushing fuel again yet it runs gr8....its got me really confused...any suggestions you guys and gals have will be more than welcome. love the site btw
