  1. To tell you the truth I have no idea anymore.I have heard that the ones sold in england are adjusted first at 12,000 miles per the manufacture. In Aust its 20,000 km or 12,000 miles I have no idea why here the first one is at 600 miles.I have already done mine and most likely would do it again if I bought a new one. My bike was in specs on the 600 mile service but doing it yourself does not cost anything. Just the having the piece of mind is worth it to me. I started doing my own when I had a Kaw Concourse and after getting the first 2 services done someone told me the dealer does not even check them where he worked at unless they had a problem or over 8,000 miles. So I started doing it myself so I know its done and all it cost me is a few hours time. I have always gone by factory specs and would never advise anyone any different so even in this situation to me its better safe than sorry.

  2. Sorry the last message was to be posted on a different board. Kind of new to computers and had surgery last week so I can not get around. Wish I could blam it on the drugs. Just glad I have not posted the georgia peach one by mistake now that one was something that could not be explained. Im going to shut up at least until the drugs are all gone.

  3. I was lucky and bought the touring model for the same price I would of paid for the base model. I love it and having the same key to start the bike for the bags are great. I know while looking around a couple of dealers had put together thier own touring packages because it was cheaper for them. If you have a dealer in your area like that he might be able to swing you a deal. If anyone knows of a nice tail trunk that matches the stock bags thats what I have been shopping for. Thanks and good luck.

  4. I'm going to make your day. You and you alone are going to have this one time chance of a lifetime. Many many people have dreamed of it some have tried it. So many have impersonated it. But you my friend just because I like you will have this deal of a lifetime. You can now be the second owner of the all famous Brooklyn Bridge but you must contact me quickly as I said this is a one time offer.
  5. I dont know if this will work or not but a old fart told me he uses a white oven cleaner on the area of the leak. After a short ride he can see where the leak is starting from. Sounded good to me anyway.

  6. Sounds good Im still deceiding on my next adjustment how far I want to tear it down. I think that it will make it till the snow hits so I can take my time. The hex wrench idea sounds good though Im going to do that. Im kind of the extra wood guy myself just 4 2x6 screwed them ontop of each other about 8 inches long. I them put two scrap pieces on top where thiers enough room to trap mty kickstand in the middle. Works great for oil changes and checking the level. No need to get anyones help or worry about dropping her. It works well for me anyway.

  7. Hi Rooster, Ooh flattery, that'll work every time! Thank you.

I got a nasty reality check earlier, hubby got home early so I dragged him down to the dealers and I sat on the GPZ500. I felt like a kiddie eating at a grown ups dining table. Waaaayyyyy too much of a stretch to get my likle short arms past the whopping great tank and feel even half way in control of the beastie

Ah well. Time to stop being a Girlie, concentrate on riding my 125 and passin my test. I'll dream of new bikes once I've got thru that hurdle.

Booked another 2 hour lesson so loads to practice before then

    Cheers.

    Amanda

    Hi to you too!

I can tell you keep looking and riding don't count something out that you like. The more experence and comfy you get you will be making the bike do all the work. A little time with the ctb and that thing will be dancing to you music. Besides even 125's need loving.

  8. Why do yall try to dress your bikes up like Harleys,.....don't you realize how much of a poser you are?

Harleys are good. All others are junk,...rice,....wannabe rice riders.

the hd forums at least HAVE people in them talking!

Sorry but I dont have a pick-up or a trailer so I will ride mine to where I go

  9. Hello all, new to this forum thanks for your time. I just bought a 1986 yx600 radian. pretty good shape, but the seat wont unlock, preventing me from opening it. i've tried wd-40, key wiggles back and forth, can hear lock mechanism moving under the seat, but it wont unlock. Any ideas?

I dont know much about your bike butin the past I have had seats that will not open if the forks are locked hey its worth a try

  10. I suppose till you ride it you dont hear it, i only notice the clutch when its idling out of gear with the clutch out.. ie: at traffic lights etc. but its definatly noticable.. ill tell them at the first service. Its almost like a rattle.

Sorry mine is more like a bearing or something on that line good luck anyway.

  11. I have had my V-Star 1300 for 3 days and im not sure if the noise i hear is normal....

I have noise when the engine is idling and the clutch is out, but when i put the clutch in theres no noise is that normal?

im getting a whining kinda noise when moving, again is that normal?

and also lastly i get a knocking noise when i go over a pot hole or something similar, is that normal with this bike?

Any info would be a help!

I can not tell you if its normal or not but mine had the same thing except for the pot hole stuff. It was sugested I adjust the clutch which I did. That took care of about 60 percent of the noise. I have 2200 miles now and either its getting better or Im getting acustomed to the noise. There is still a whine when riding that I hope will go away but it is a whole lot better now than when I first picked it up. You would think Yamaha would train the dealers about this clutch problem. After that how in the world could I trust them to service my bike if they dont know how to adjust the clutch?

  12. I've got about 5,000 miles on my 1300, and once the engine gets nice and hot, I hear what to me seems like excessive lifter noise. I just had oil changed, with Amsoil synthetic, 10/40, and noise remains. Does this seem to be typical with this bike's engine? Is anyone else having this issue?

For one thats not the oil wieght recomended and two have you done the valve adjustment?

  13. I did the 600 mile valve service about 2800 miles ago. Did NOT remove hoses OR throttle bodies. Never opened the radiator.

A long screwdriver will pry the top hose aside just enough to access the valves.

It was still a very lengthy process, and one of the most difficult parts was reattaching the forward vent hoses under the tank. It took another set of hands for me to accomplish that feat without scratching anything.

I hope round two will go more quickly. It's coming up soon.

    Good luck.

    Renfield.

You truly get the guts award for that. I tried the screw driver thing but did not want to put that much presure on my 600 mile bike. As far as the vent hoses went I have a couple of 4 inch scrap wood wedges that slide under the left side of the tank. I can then get under the tank enough that it goes right on.

  14. Yamahas especially the touring bikes are lame imitations of a truely great motorcycle. and a YAMAHA will NEVER be a Harley.

I thought I'd poke my head in this lame forum to see whats up,......but its all wannabees,...posers,...wimps,.....and you people KNOW its true. Stay off the road with real bikers.

Now that you got that off your chest do you feel better about over paying for a outdated bike? A Harley is actually a imitation of a Indian with no improvements. At least some changes were made to allow people to make a choice or dont you agree with free thinking? If everyone had a harley you would not have a thing to whine about or would you?

  15. Not sure about Europe but I have an XJ600 in the States and I got insured through Progressive Direct. Can't convert it to your currency but I know I pay about $100 a year for Liability.

I also don't know if they do international or if your government will accept an American Insurance company but you can try their website and see if they do.

I had Progressive and hit a eagle over 3 years ago and they have not payed a dime on it. My wife injured her neck and every dr. that treated her said her injuries were caused by the wreck but progressive says it was not. They have not even paid for the ambulance from the scene. If you want to fight for coverage you pay for then go ahead and buy it I never will again.
