Its taken them a WEEK!
I'm going to collect it on Saturday or Sunday now!
-
The last pipe looks like our crank case breather tube
then it should be loose and not attached to anything! Cool
Thanks
-
stripped the carb AGAIN and adjusted float height by 2 or 3mm to 22mm. 8)
Notice something nice aswell, whilst taking the carb to bits i found that pilot screws rubber washer was in fine little pieces. I suppose that doesnt help the bike, especially when idling is concerned!
-
that would be excellent....cheers mate

Sorry to swamp the forum with loads of messages.
My bike didnt have a battery so i bought a new one, however im not sure how or what to connect to it!
I have the red wire + fuse and black but i think there needs to be another wire connected to it.
I got a pic of a bike on ebay with the battery wired up, im assuming mine should look something like it.
-
Excellent!
I'm messing about with my front brake at the moment, very useful information here.
Nice one

had another look through the haynes and it turns out the bike is actually 12v!!
This is the indicator relay right? not gettin anything from it!
Do the indicators run off the battery?? or do they work the same way as the headlights? I dont have my battery connected!
-
Hows that?
...and whats this other tube for?
Still doesnt idle though, gonna strip the carb AGAIN!

Good point and well said...

Just had a chat with another MOT centre and they guy was saying..
"..only bikes pre 1986, or is it earliar than that? yeah even before that, are allowed not to have indicators."
I hate this
and like johnalpi said,
"i wouldnt take my bike to a main dealer for any work whatsoever-everever. "
I'd would never even think of having them do anything, but they seem like the most viable option to get the MOT done.
Yet i know they would be most likely be the pickiest!
Need to find a dodgy little back street MOT centre!
ARRRRRRRRRRHHH!

...ok so....
1. Where breather pipe no 2 is connected, is the oil inlet which...
2. ..the black oil outlet pipe needs to be connect to (this is correctly not connected to anything)
3. The white plasic tube (which appears below breather pipe no 1 and is currently not connected to anything) is where the breather pipe no 2 SHOULD be connected.
Correct??
Sorry about being so over the top, jus wanna be sure b4 i connect something up wrong and blowin somethin up!!
-
Piston dust covers £5! Should have them tomorrow!
Wicked stuff
-
You need to connect it to the brass stub near the front of the carb (right side) where there is currently a yellowish breather pipe attached. This breather pipe should then be attached to the white plastic stub near the rear of the carb.
Which tube? to where? stub?
Thanks by the way
-
Jus to make sure, i'm connecting the oil feed to the oil in right?
-
Are braided hoses expensive? and are they worth it?
-
Just took the caliper to bits and gave it a good clean out.
The only problem is the dust seal around the main piston fell to bits!!
I should be able to get a new one right? Gonna make some calls tomorrow.
-
how can i test the compression??
the bike has done about 9000miles, i believe it was bought in 1988 then ridden for two years then stolen and recovered, then sat in a garage for 15 years
Do you think compression could be a problem?
-
....hmmm...but isnt the master cylinder overhaul kit jus a new spring, plunger and some washers?
The ones that i have seem alright?
I was thinking maybe the crap that was in the cylinder was blocking every thing up??
I'll wack it back together and see if theres any difference now.
Thanks Yamahead

First time the front brake had been used in 10-15 years.
I thought the system could be bleed, pads replace and whoopi doo!
.....but no!.....There was no pressure in the system!
In fact i filled the master cylinder with fluid, removed the line to the caliper and pumped the lever to see what would happen
I would have thought that fluid should leave the reservoir, but nothin
Maybe the cylinder needs an overhaul with a new kit...??
Then i opened it all up and had a look and the insides. I gave the bits a good clean.....

where do you guys live, ive never heard of so much trouble with mot's, ill give you the address of my guy if hes not too far away from you.
LOL
-
The only thing that made me think that the tube didnt go on the white nipple was the tube seemed too small.
But i do believe 2stroke does come out of the tube.
I was unaware 2stroke needed to go into the carb!
I'll give the connection a try and give feedback.
Nice one!

I'd like to see a FAQ or guide section in the forum.
A bit like 'marchys' brake guide.
It might reduce the amount of repeated questions and answers.
I'd be happy to contribute to making guides. I'm always taking my bike to bits, so taking a couple of pics and adding some text shouldnt be too much of a problem. 8)
What does everybody think?? :?: :?:
