Should a crank shaft spin freely? Mine spins by hand smoothly but not freely is this normal? I’ve just put new SKF main bearings in Cheers gaz

Hi everyone im rebuilding my 1979 DT’s engine that someone else took apart (it came in a box of bits) looking at the manual it says there are some shims on the crank between the crank shaft and main bearing. Does anyone know what size these are (diameter,thickness etc...) kind regards Garry

So is it possible it never had any? As the previous owner swears it was all there.

I'm rebuilding the crank at the mo but struggling to find a big end bearing. Also what's the best way of getting verious shims for the engine love to hear from you guys
