Hi! I am considering buying a Yamaha V90 engine block for a V50 bike, but it needs a new piston and barrel and im really struggling to find anything available. Is there any chance someone on here knows where to find parts? Cheers

From all ive gathered so far it seems to be a Yamaha U5 or Newport which is like the predecessor to the V50 from the 60's... was hopeful someone may have more info tho

Hey everyone! So I purchased this bike and am not entirely sure on the exact model etc I have uploaded the frame number I found on the left hand side of the steering head, engine number and a general pic Any info would be appreciated!

Went for a test ride this afternoon- so much better! actually breathes and pulls down low instead of going ah nah no thanks u can putter about everywhere

Well ive taken out the blocked baffles (baffles are fail anyway) and given the pipe a clean through with some degreaser cause it wasnt that bad once the baffles were gone. Now just gotta spiff up the bike, and put it all back together and see how she goes!

I personally prefer to Premix but for the meantime for this bike il be using the self oiler and see how it goes...

Turns out that the baffles which are removable were blocked which is causing the majority of the issues.

Just curious if any people are doing this ride on the 27th September, with rides in over 400 cities around the world there should be a ride near you! Hey everyone. Im having issues with my V50 atm where my exhaust is full of oil. The previous owners use to run car engine oil through the pre mix system instead of normal 2 stroke oil (it says motor oil on the cap and they got confused) so im wondering what methods are best to clear it out so the bike can breath. My name is Ben, or known as boots (hence the forum name) and I own a 1980 Yamaha V50, along with various other project cars and a couple of other bikes Hoping to find more info about my bike (such as workshop manuals etc) and make use of the other members advice for various maintenance tasks that may arise. At this stage, just going to keep the bike in as original shape as I got it as possible, with the only major cosmetic change being a recovered seat. Thanks!
