    First fall.

Fife. Regarding the helmet: I do not recall the helmet touching the ground and there are absolutely no marks on it at all. Everything else is ripped / scraped / dented: bike, trousers, jacket, gloves, boots but I'm very sure the helmet is unscathed.
  3. I'm looking to upgrade the stock tyres on the YBR125 for the winter mostly as I plan on using the bike as often as possible. Any recommendations? edit: hmm maybe i should scroll down when entering the forum so I can see *all* sections. I can't seem to be able to move this to the more appropriate section. If a mod can I would be very thankful!

    First fall.

My helmet didn't touch the floor at all. My left elbow, left hip, and left knee took the brunt of it. I'm not badly hurt at all. Bike will need some attention but its pretty much all cosmetic. Some bent levers, pranged fairings, broken mudguard, split rubbers. All of which have just been ordered. The instrument panel mounts were also bent but having a hard time working out the part number for that.
  5. Excellent. I know how you feel having just done a similar thing. Watching then trying counter steering was an epiphany for me. Glad i found out quickly - wish they covered stuff like that at CBT. Enjoy yourself and stay safe. What plans do you have for full licence? I'm interested to hear. I thought I'd get in some proper time on a 125 before doing anything further but I can see that changing (slightly).

    First fall.

Took a lowside fall today. Front wheel hit some tractor mud on a corner and the bike went from under me. Glad to say the gear all did its job just fine. Sore leg and some light scraping on my arm. My jacket is pretty badly damaged but rather it than me. I was not going fast as ironically I could see that conditions were poor and had slowed down considerably (although obviously not enough). I feel fortunate to be able to say I learned! Now I need to go buy some parts to replace the broken bits. Its the original tyres on the bike (Yamaha YBR 125). I had been thinking of replacing them as a few people have said they are not that great. I'm not suggesting that had anything to do with the fall but I'd still be interested in any recommendations for replacement tyres. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the replies. I don't think i will be pursuing needing to answer a phone while riding. I will certainly be fitting the usb power and a weatherproof iphone mount though (already have TomTom app on the iphone) for satnav purposes. I'll update the thread once i choose / fit things.
  8. Just watched every episode - these guys should have a TV show!
  9. Thanks for that. I will keep looking and update. I'll need to check the battery voltage in the morning (2013 YBR) as I have no idea. Still to order the Haynes manual - thats added to the list....
  10. Does anyone have any recommendations on installing usb to the YBR (or indeed any bike); any particular make that you would point me at? Any issues with connecting direct to battery or is it better to find something switched to ignition (headlight)? In short I'm looking to have USB power and a reasonably waterproof mount for an iphone 5s - mainly i want to use it for satnav but while I'm here i might as well ask for opinions on bluetooth headsets for answering the phone. At the moment I have pretty much taken the view that while I am riding i will not be answering the phone at all, but it would certainly be interesting to hear opinions from more experienced riders. Thanks in advance
  11. new to bikes. been over 20 years since i was even on a push bike! Did CBT a few days ago. Always wanted to get a bike but it never seemed to be the appropriate point in time. Jumped in today and bought a YBR along with a rushed visit to the local motorcycle shop for safety equipment. I've been a mixture of a Bull in a china shop and a wee boy in a sweetie shop the last few days. Looked at everything from CBR through Varadero, CG and everything in between; settled on YBR as a good machine to build up some much needed experience. I guess my ultimate aspirations are the Honda CB 250 or the Yamaha XS 250 - but all in good time. I have loads of questions - I'll try and start slowly. Bought "Motorcycle Roadcraft" so that is my reading material for the next little while. Had a minor moments today at a junction as a car pulled out - does anyone even notice bikes on roads? Maybe I'll try the Lady Godiva in a helmet approach - bet I'd get noticed then; and probably arrested into the bargain! Anyway - Hello.
