  1. BONKERS bike loads of torque and unique dont see many out there and some bonkers deals i paid list for mine 2 yrs ago £9349 now on 0% at some yamaha dealers (not all yamaha dealers sell them have to be an MT authrised dealer ) have seen some as litte as £7100 on the 0% and even a used 56 plate with 500 miles x demo at £5995.00

    good hunting stu

  2. dont know!

Not unless they are hard to come by at the minute but i would have thought that there would be quite a few of these reps floating about by now!!!

    grrrrr.......

    <_<

Thats it im going to get a Arai even if i have to pay full wack for it! lol

Hi matt snell lids are better spec than uk lids so it would not bother me is what all the racers lids are (snell tested) think there ok on a track here in the uk too

  3. hi if i were spending that kind of money that it would have to be one of the simpson helmets.more than likely the bandit. at around 300 its a brilliant lid and jsut looks the f*cking dogs!! however if an arai your after ive never heard a bad thing about them. also the shoei x 3000 or whatever it is is ment to be a good lid as well. however i just can;t fault my rst lid!! the upper model from mine is very nice too.

    and sorry but,

IVE FINISHED ALL MY EXAMS!!! :D :D

Had a simpson bandit had colour matched to my bike met silver and gold looked the dogs but worst lid i have owned poor visibility noisy (was one of the early ones) not much chin protection but still looked good on my old streetfighter 98 R1

  4. See that worries me about the side cover thing as its not the first time ive heard of them doing sky diving impressions mid ride! lol. As for the rubber bit thats one i havent heard of before!

I will check out the sharks and see what ones are about!

I know there is nothing wrong with the KBC but i cant wait to get it off as all i can hear when im riding is wind noise and its not going to be long before i throw it out of a plane to then really let it have some wind noise! lol.

HI Matt have owned 6 arais now from a signet gt astro r and j and rx7 corsair and have only lost one side pod bout £40 for a replacement but its mainly due to constantly changing the visors and not putting back on propley. Arais are quiet noisy due to the side pods but in my opion probably the best fitting and comy crash helmets you can buy. I personally have never paid full price for an arai last two i have bought is a plain blue rx7 corsair which was £250 and an astro r race rep in haslam colours paid £190.00 for that and they were both last yrs lids ( date stamp around the strap ) as i know that at the bmf and nec the dealers sell them cheap as old stock some upto 5 years old.

Other lids to look at are the shoei xr1000 good deals to be had and good colour schemes light and quiet and visor comes off easier for cleaning etc approx £300.

And the other one i would look at is the AGV titech not a rossi rep tho massivly overpriced plain colours again should be bout £300 and black one is cool. ( but AGV just dont fit me well as would have probably bout one)

try cissebury leathers they usually have lots of deals on...

  5. Hi everyone!

I am new on this forum, so will introduce myself:

    My name is Ventzi.

Last year I bought 2 R6's (from a mate that did some racing) - A road bike, and a complete bike that needed alot of putting together (He had been taking bits from it as spares for his track bike)

Anyway - Both are the early carb models - the road bike being the updated model with twin rear lights, and project bike being a 1999 early model.

I loved the bike, and did alot of miles in a few miles - and quite comfortably did a bit of touring here and there - once even with the girlfriend and a set of soft panniers on the back!

Anyway - I sold that bike, and now need another one to do about 20-25 miles a day commuting and obviously weekend riding.

I would love another R6 - but I have been thinking about getting a new FZ6 Fazer - Yamaha are currently doing 0% finance on them.

I was just wondering if anyone has the 2006 or 2007 models - I know that Yamaha brought in the S2 for 07 - and now they have the S2 and a lower bhp model.

But I have found a bargain - a brand new 2006 model in black, for £4199, with the 0% finance.

Obviously, for a 2006 model, it isnt an S2 - but was wondering - in 2006, was there just the 1 full power model, or were there the lower bhp models?

I like the S2 - but to be honest, if I get this 06 model, I am saving around £1100 - which can pay for insurance, nice end cans, little mods here and there etc.

Anyone have the 06 model? Is it any good?

    Cheers!

rode 06 last year for bout 6000 miles bike is very good you could get them for 3999 . 2007 s2 is the same as 06 model bar new swing arm comfy seat clocks fairing different engine the same. the uk is not getting the lower bhp option same as last yr 98bhp. and almost forgot new brakes on the s2 model.. a much improved model on an already good bike.

be careful with regards to the 06 model as lots of dealers still had 2005 models kicking around usually have silver engines and silver frames apart from abs model and a few black ones , 06 colours were lava red yamaha blue and towards the end of year black as yamaha ran out of faired models.. have seen a few dealers selling pre reg 2005 spec r6s for as little as £5000... happy hunting stueee

  6. Yeah thats got a tail tidy on and i can see a slight prob with the indicators that the stalks are not really long enough to get past the plate! lol

    Looks good though!

I was thinking about doing a track day myself as per the thread in the trackday area.

Stuee-s do you do that sort of mileage on the R6??? Thats what im probably going to do on mine if im not careful, its just ticked over 10,500 and it was on 1,900 when i got it last nov/dec!!!!

    I cant help it though!!!

Hi yeah do that kind of mileage on various bikes try to keep of my r6r as much as poss weekend bike mainly just got rid of xt660x and mt 01 and replaced with a naked fz6 s2 as commuter bike got it last week done 650 miles already all good..

  7. People should take notice of the time period because even if it isn't being used for the amount of miles it says in the book the engine will still need a look over and tune up.

IF YOUR DEALER IS COOL THEY WILL WALK YOU THROUGH THE SERVICING SCHEDULE 600 MILES OR 6 WEEKS (RUNNING IN PERIOD ) THEN 6000 MILES OR 6 MTHS TO A YR DEPENDING ON ABUSE

EVERYONE RIDES DIFFERENT MYSELF I WILL DO IT AT 600 MILES THEN AT 6000 MILES BUT I DO BOUT 16000 MILES A YEAR

AVERAGE MILES IN UK IS BOUT 3000 SO IF YOU DO THAT KIND OF MILES YOU PROBABLY SERVICE YOUR BIKE ANNUALLY

    ALL GOOD

  8. :D:D

Its easy to caught out with the new bike buying exprience see so many people that try to come in and buy a bike because they have just passed there test and see the first bike that falls into there price bracket and must have it..

The dealer should of tidyed up the rear bit slap dash if held together with tape , also what service is missing as yamahas are 600 miles then 6000 or usually a year.

I was selling the model you have for £5099 brand new on a 56 plate (pre -reg) but they sold out like hot cakes.

    looks good tho

    happy riding

  9. sorry, please explain to me where it's missing?

HI think what matt is on about is the small v shaped fairing that sits behind the front wheel right at the bottom stops all the crap hitting the down pipes but hard to see if yours is missing as it is always black...

  10. GREETINGS to all of you.

I've just registered and have a 2007 FZ1 in Black with a few mods.

is it the 07 model or the 06 model as i know there are a lot of 06 models kicking around at cheap money.

As the 2007 model should have better fueling and yamaha have done away with jerkiness havent noticed on the one i have been riding.. also what your tank range as i rode very easy running and only seamed to get 98 miles to a tank !!!!

    cheers stu

  11. looks a bit like a 12v neon bar!!! lol

    :blink::blink::blink:

Very much doubt it is though!! lol

    :blink::blink::blink:

Ive been looking on google to try and find pics to see about that bit of V shaped fairing and i cant see properly if it is there or not?!?!

Anyone else with an 05 model able to help on this one?!?!

hi yes all 2005 r6 come a v shaped fairing on them... think your right with neon bar thought may have been a scotoiler at first glance until bigger pics were posted not seen that before likes like wires disapear under seat...

  12. I have just bought a 2004 Fazer 1000 and I need to fit new tyres, what is the best tyre for the bike, I'm used to Bridgestones. Cheers

depends how you ride it bridgestones seam to be the best all round tyres for the fazer1000 would not trying the new michlens that have just come out !!

  13. How was the ride then?!?! lol

Just looking at your pics, are you missing a piece of fairing that goes in front of the manifold or are my eyes going funny?!?!

    good spot

  14. I am currently considering purchasing an 2003 R1 , i have found a bike which appears in very good condition full history from a uk dealer, but after talking with the dealer today they have said that it is an import. I'm not sure which counrty but it was supplied by a UK dealer and has MPH clocks etc should I avoid this bike....? If not is there something I should be looking for or need to find out before commiting to purchase.

hi imports are ok as long as you pay right money for it as you would expect to get knocked for a few quid if you px in against a uk bike at a main dealer , bout £500 -£600 behind the price of a uk bike. Also watch out for warranty recalls as uk dealers won't deal with them. how much you thinking of paying for it..

    good luck stu

  15. I'm new to the site and would just like to say a quick hi to everyone one. So glad I stummbled across this site, it seems so full of help and info. My names Gareth, I'm from Leicestershire and I have a 2001 R6. If anyone is intrested in meeting up locally for a ride out with myself and a couple of my mates (R1's) don't hesitate to contact me. We're not pro's, just a decent small group who enjoy riding out.

    hi gareth nice wheels

  16. I would take them back m8. If its not comfortable puttin them on how you gonna feel ridin your bike? Just go early in the mornin and get the next size up then rest of day to play! :D Try all the gear on and sit on a bike if poss. You dont want to be worrin bout how you feel in tight clothes when your tryin to ride.

    Just my opinion.

I Agree a good clothing salesman should have had you sitting on the bike with all the kit to make sure it fits when your out riding , leathers will losen a little bit but you need it to be your second skin.....

Clothing salesman should let you exchange it for the next size up no dramas...

    good luck

    I concurr. <_<

If he had broader sense of adventure and had done a more comprehensive internet search it would have revealed some very good reviews from a great deal of 'suprised' journos. One of the 'Bike' magazine journos recently commented about how much he missed his MT01 from last year and I can't be bothered to post links to all the great reviews because he wouldn't be interested anyway...

It is most certainly a totally different style of riding to your normal sports bike and takes a hell of a lot of getting used to. You certainly don't have to play 'gearbox tennis' around the twisties like on a pocket-rocket, it's just a matter of rolling-on and rolling off, using the massive V-twin to the best of it's ability. ;)

I am still on a steep learning curve with mine, especially having come from a Honda 'Sixer', where it was all about the correct gears etc etc. I only wished I'd done my advanced cornering techniques course on this instead of the Honda; maybe then I wouldn't be such a 'fearty'...

tried to get into mt owners website but would not let me in after registerd .

rock and roll have put the akro's on yours yet ? sound fantastic and with the single seat unit looks fantastic

  17. I got some Pirelli Supercorsa Pro, very very sticky hence they have not lasted well. They like a warm road to give you the best. I've done 900 miles and they're half gone, maybe it's the way I ride ;)

Next time I'll get Diablo Corsa III, three zones so should give me better millage on the Mway. I should have got these first as was recomended but wanted some super sticky stuff, and blimey the're sticky, good fun :D

Not so nice with lots of standing water so don't get caught in a thunderstorm!

900 MILES ROCK AND ROLL !!!! I WANT A TYRE LIKE THE PIRELLI SUPERCORSA THAT STICKS TO THE ROAD AND LASTS LIKE A TOURING TYRE ONE DAY MAYBE LOL

  18. Blimey skidd, you've got a lot of bikes :D. Well I do like small bikes, but i'm fed up of the lack of power. My YBR is about 10.3hp or something like that, and it pulls fine up to about 50mph, but over that its as sluggish as, well, a slug. Overtaking on roads where the speed limit is over 50 is dodgy, as it takes so long to pass, and i'm the opposite lane too long for comfort. I want a quick bike, but not so quick that I will do stupid speeds on it.

And Torgo, yes there are Viragos over here, my mum has got a Virago 250, she says that she might give it to me when i've taken my full test, as she doesn't ride it anymore (wimp). But even though it will be nice to ride a cruiser, that one is only 17hp, and that isnt much more than mine already, and it weighs quite a lot more. So even that I won't be too happy on.

I have been thinking though, if i take my mums bike, and save up to get a Kawasaki KR1-S or Suzuki RGV 250, and restrict the pokey one to 33hp (has to be done by law till the 2 year restriction period is over) then maybe I'll have best of both worlds or something.

Ultimately I want a reliable 33hp comfortable ride, but here there isn't much choice. Literally there are about 5 bike dealers on the island, and most of them only deal with big bikes. If i want to go to a decent dealership, I have to take the ferry to the mainland, and the islands ferrys are mile for mile, THE most expensive ferrys in the world apparently. And then ride all the way to somewhere i've never even ridden, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'm not used to mainland roads, I'm used to little country lanes, meandering through the countryside etc.

Well thanks a lot for your'e opinions anyway :D

    Kev

Hi kev i deal with guys from your neck of the woods all the time you can buy any bike you want as long as you fit a restrictor kit to it about £150 most people tend to buy fazers or even the odd R6 with a kit fitted on.

    regards stuart

  19. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN ADVISE ON PAINT CODES FOR A BLUE 2003 YZF R6, LOST MY FOOTING AND DROPPED BIKE QUITE GENTLY BUT CANNOT FIND PAINT CODE ON BIKE OR MANUAL ETC. CANT WAIT TO GET IT SPRAYED TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD!!!
