  1. Best thing to do is take the carb of and clean it properly and adjust the floats etc. I had problems with the my bike starting and running properly. Also get a haynes manual if you dont have one.
  2. I recently attempted to put a ybr 125 08 fuel injected engine into my 06 xt125r bike.It didn't work. you will be able to put the engine into the ybr as all the mounts are the same but there are a couple of differences. the wiring for the alternator have different connections and there are a couple of differences on the top end. The camshaft cover were different sizes.. I could not get the bike to turn over at all so i put the old engine back in again.. It may be been a problem with the carb.. I also noted that the clutch basket in the ybr is smaller than the xt.. I also do not think you will be able to put the xt engine in the ybr you will have to change your whole wiring loom. Ecu etc. I would also recommend you get the carb cleaned before messing around with the settings. I think it was the plunger connected to the float bowl that was sticking a bit and not letting fuel through.
  3. What happens when you press the button after the, "2 sparks". Is it completely dead when you push the start button or is there a clicking sound from the left of the bike? If there is no clicking sound then check the solenoid. If there is a clicking sound check the wiring to your starter motor. Im going to try my carb at 1400 for idling then will take it lower once I see how it goes. I find when it is at 1100/1200 it will usually cut out if not warmed up properly.
  4. Haynes advises idle speed should be between 1650 &1850. Mines is usually between 1600 &1700. My bike usually takes a minute or 2 to warm up. Are you holding the start button in until it starts or just pressing and releasing?
  5. Ek dink die ding het sy gat gesien...
  6. I have a 06 xt. Fuel gauge light on mine doesnt work and have not really bothered to try and fix it. Just open the tank and look is the easiest way. Dont know if the speedo does tell you how much is in the tank.

  8. I'm sure the 2010 model of the XT will be identical to the 2009 model. Yamaha brought out the WR125 x/r in 2010 so doubt they would have changed anything from 2009 to 2010 on the XT.
  9. I had the same problem with my XT when starting in the mornings, had to give a wee bit of throttle until it was warmed up. Cleaned the carb, and adjusted the air mix screw a bit and this solved. Would definately recommend getting the haynes manual. Well worth the couple of quid it costs.
  10. There are bolts on the left and right hand side under the rear of the seat. They're the only bolts that should be visible, once you take them out you can lift the seat off.
  11. Pretty sure they are the same. I have a 06 xt125r and replaced it with a 09 part.
  12. Thanks guys installed new seal last night and they're working fine. Seems the seals were put in the wrong way round originally and were wrecke when I got the bike. Cheers
  13. Thanks for the reply guys. Stanchions are fine there were hardly any pits on them. I think the seals were put in the wrong way round as the silver spring on the fork seal is facing up the way. Will yank them out this weekend and put new ones in. Cheers
  14. Hi stupid question but which way round do they go, does the silver spring round the seal face up/outside the fork or down/inside the fork. New seals were fitted but still leaking and hence failed its mot, 1st mot since owning it. Stanchions are fine. Not sure if they were put in the wrong way round or maybe not driven in correctly. Cheers
  15. Hi anyone know if its possible to get new internal seals for the rear master cylinder. Cheers
  16. I dont think the bike has a kill switch to begin with as it looks like the original throttle, also theres no place to attach a side stand switch either. think the first models may not have had the safety features, bike was registered in march 2006.
  17. HI Cynic, Cheers for response. My bike does seem to have differences from the manual, as there is no kill switch, just a throttle housing with a starter button underneath, the starter solenoid is also different is also different to the one pictured in the manual. Tried to wire up the bike to the solenoid I bought but no joy, will wait and see if I get any joy with the other solenoid. Then I need to see why the neutral light isnt coming on, replace the battery and spark plug, replace rear brake resovoir and see what else needsdone after that.
  18. Hi Just purchased my first bike after completing my CBT at the age of 33, actually 34 now as it's my bday . Bought a bit of a fixerupper xt125r 05 model and came across this site and has been really useful so far. Cheers
  19. Hi newbie post Purchased a xt125r in Nov. First mototrbike ever after just having passed my CBT. The bike only has a kick start at the moment as starter was not working. I've just replaced the starter mototr and tried to replace the solenoid but ordered the wrong one (one with the 2 bolts) as mine is the older solenoid black box type with 4 pins. JUst a query do I need to have a kill switch on the bars and stand switch for the starter to work?, have a haynes manual and it seems as if all of these are connected in some way. wires look OK I found the wire to the clutch was not attached and had to reconoect the starter mototr cable, not sure if thats all I'll need to get the starter working.? Any help appreciated. Cheers
