  1. I pulled the cover off the clutch but they look ok. No burning or anything that I can see
  2. Hey guys. Haven't posted for awhile but was riding the bike to work, when I went to take off the bike seemed like it popped into neutral so I put it back in. Got to another stop light and went to take off and it wouldn't move and was making a grinding sound while idling and in gear. No sound while in neutral. Now a shop said that it was the outer drive and I be better off grabbing a new engine off a pull yard So I put it on a trailer and took her home. Now looking at the outer drive since I got most the back end apart aside from the swing arm the drive looks just fine. I did pull the cover off and no broken teeth that I can see in there and the drive seems solid. So what could be the problem. If it's gonna require an engine rebuild I'll get an engine and swap them out for the time being and work on the original as I can. As it would make a great hands on to learn about these engines and to have as a spare in case anything happens in the future as the bike is my daily rider
  3. Thanks guys for the fast reply. My next check ill get that. Along with a new helmet since first one went out with the crash
  4. Hey everyone. I have a 2002 xvs650, i was involved in a crash a couple months ago which broke the signals lights and some misc item on the bike. Got it all fixed up and replaced the turn signals with LEDs but now when i signal they all blink at the same time and its a faster blink. I know they are wired in to their correct wires but do i need to add some load resistors in the lines? And what would cause the hazard signal when selecting a directional
  5. I do agree here, I became a better, more aware driving when I got my Miata, very small car given the fact I work and drive near tractor trailers a lot (YIKES) but being on the bike opened my eyes even more, (given that there is a lot more open space around you without pillars blocking the view) but either way it is fun to not have to sick in traffic wasting money but sitting on a road parking lot.
  6. Hey guys, how's it going? Just joined the forum, I have a new to me 2002 XVS650. Sad side is I have had it for a couple weeks of some fun cruising/commuting to work and have taken a spill. Needless to say I have damaged some parts, I am getting a tank and fenders right now, but I do need to get handlebars and a front fork and lights. Going to a time project since I am out of work due to a broken wrist from the accident,
